    Default need info on amd chips

    i have a amd athlon 2x4 640 and my asus mother board says it can take all kinds of amd chips and even the x6 chip and would like to no if that is true here is my mother board m4a785-m and would like to no all the higher chips i can put in it i have the 640 right now would like to go bigger hope you can help thank you jim

    Yes you can, your board is AM3 compliant which is what the newer CPUs use.

    As far as I know, your mobo supports all socket am2+ and socket am3+. Go to the motherboards website and it lists all supported chips.

    What do you mean by biggest? if by most cores, the x6 series is your best bet, check the PUREOC reviews for which one suits your needs.
