    Default Upgrading Motherboard: COMPATIBILITY?

I own an HP-M9517C and I would like to upgrade the motherboard. My old motherboard (M2N78-LA violet) downloaded an HP update that killed the BIOS.

Trying to find compatible motherboards that are either equal or better to my current motherboard and are at a reasonable price. My biggest concern is finding a board that will take my current processor and has room for 4 RAM chips.

You could get a floppy drive and reflash the bios. Floppy drives are $10 unless you bricked the board.

It's an AM2+ processor. And yes the board is bricked, I did not brick it myself but after automatically downloading an HP BIOS UPDATE!

As cheap as possible without downgrading. I just want my computer running again. Although feel free to list off any bargains.

I have been informed that I need a motherboard with AM2 and DDR2 listed or it wont work as a replacement for my computer, can you tell me how I can know for sure or check to see if this board will work as a replacement for my old motherboard while using all of my other parts, such as the processor and memory?

Mine is DDR3... Sry. Your CPU will work with the board though. Just not the memory.
