They have been saying near future ever since Quad core chips were release, then came 6 core chips, and Near Future came out again, now with 8 core chips being released,
they brought the words " Near Future " out of retirement and started using them again lol

What I would really like to see is a real benchmark that utilizes all cores.
and a Side by Side by Side comparison with a i7 2600k and a i5 2500k.
One way to do this is compiling the newest Android Version (ICS 4.0.1) from source.
Here is why I say this would be an excellent benchmark tool.
I have a crap AMD Phenom II x2 555BE, that is split in 2 since I run Ubuntu through a VM since my wife likes Windows 7.
I have 8 GB of Ram split in half. This way Linux gets 1 core with 4GB and Windows gets 1 Core with 4GB.
It took me 6.5 hours to compile ICS.
A friend who has a x6 AMD with 8GB in native linux compiled ICS in just under an hour.
Friends who have an i7 2600k can compile in a little over 30-45 minutes.
Have 2 systems, the 8150 stock clocks with 16GB of Ram and a i7 2600k stock clocks with the same type and spec 16GB of ram, same type of HDD or SSD and both running native Ubuntu 10.04 this way it isn't sharing any resources with Windows. Start the compile at the same exact time, and time how long they take, and monitoring CPU activity and performance. Then do the same with the i5 2500k.
The compile WILL use all cores and amount of ram.
This would be a true test.

We did a a few multi mult taking benchmarks: Playing a movie, downloading a movie and a few other things running and that is where the FX chios did well against the 2500K and 2600K. These are just a few I had time to perform......

Thanks drdeath, very good results. still undecided if I'm gonna get a new AM3+ board w/ the 8150 or just move to intel.
