Default Phenom II X4 955 OC

Hi all! I have been gone for a bit but im back now. I ended up having to sell my last rig which was a core I7 950. I have since replaced most of it with what I thought was going to be just another run of the mill computer. I was very mistaken as I am very impressed with the performance of the AMD chip. Now I have no problem telling you that I have been a true blue Intel fanboy from day 1. My first comp was a Wang 8086 Business computer complete with monochrome moniter! LMAO I have since continued through the years jumping from chip to chip. I stand here today a changed man. I purchased this chip from Fry's Electronics for the paltry sum of $119.00. I purchased the motherboard for just $5.00 as a display from Fry's as well. Came complete with everything except I\O plate which I have since ordered from ASUS. The memory cost around $39.00 and I had everything else already. So basically for around $165.00 plus tax of course I have this basic computer. Ok enough of the back story. The real reason for this post because this is my first experience with an unlocked AMD chip. I have it running stable for 12 Hrs on prime95 @ 4314.5 Mhz I will try for a higher OC when I upgrade the CPU cooler. (Stock one is ok at stock speed but needs upgrade for much more.) I have a question that has been on my mind since I first turnded this rig on. Why does the memory only run in single channel mode and not duel? When I look at cpu-z the mem mode says unganged. All of the research I have done says that its better this way because each core gets its own acess to the mem independently of each other. Kinda wierd since I only have two sticks in there and there is four cores. Do I need to change the memory out? I have looked but there is no place to change it in the bios that I can see. Is this really a problem? The thing runs great. SuperPi runs 1mil @ around 12.6 seconds. I know that its not blistering but I think its good. I play WoW and Global Agenda on max settings with my Crap video card wit no problems at all. So please shed aome light on this and guide me in the right direction. Also how high can these chips go? over 1Ghz oc is pretty good in my book. Thanks in advance!

I've found nothing wrong with most AMD CPU's either. Good performance for less money.

You have four memory slots and two sticks?
If you're getting single channel memory results then one of those sticks is in the wrong slot. Read the book to see what two are recommended by ASUS for dual channel operation.

Ok so a little update. My temps are way over. There is a problem with the way HWMoniter gets the temps for my board. I thought my max temps were right around 52 to 55 but they were alot higher. I went into my bios to try and get 4.4 out of the chip and just glanced at the bios temp readings... drum roll... 73!!!!! wow how did this chip not burn up? well i very quickly removed my oc and found idle at 45-46 and max at 53 on stock cooler. gonna wait for new cooler before i continue. this brings us to another problem. What cooler do I get? I dont care about the noise of an air cooler or all in one water cooler. I have looked at the noctua NH-D14, Thermaltake Frio OCK amd the corsair H80. I was going to run the H100 but heard some bad things about it. I am also going to change my case. I think im going to go with the corsair 600t but IDK thats another story lol. oOk so please give me your input. I wants this to be a huge OC but I will most likely live with 4.1 or 4.2 lol thanks

I have the mem sticks in the right slots and I have tried different combinations. I have found that this does happen on AMD Phenoms but I do not know why. Anyone know?
