Default Help - My FX 8120 Build won't post

i have no idea what i did wrong but this is freaking me out. i believe everything is hooked up correctly, but the system just won't post at all. nothing shows up on my monitor and no power to my keyboard or mouse. Fans turn, leds light up, front panel lights work, but no post. Suggestions.

Here is a pic of the connections. The SATA to the HDD is purposesly disconnected until I get it to post and install the OS on the SSD. Also, my cooler fan is slow to start spinning on power up.

Bios update. Throw your 1100T in or you have the heatsink too tight. I had both problems with different crosshair V's

I'll try the heatsink first. The 1100T is already installed in another case and running. thanks Jim.

reseated the cpu and reattached the cooler not tightening it so much. still no post. should i install my 1100t and update the bios and then reinstall the 8120? do I have to install the os to update the bios?

No, save the bios to a USB flash drive and flash it through Asus EZ flash in the bios under tool tab. The EZ Flash utility takes you through it.

Sam I flashed my same board last night Drd was helping me try to trouble shoot my temps I was getting on my run with prime, Anyway I had to use one of my lower usb ports or the back to see the flash drive. I saved it to hdd then unzipped it saved it to the flash drive then ez flash in bios took care of the rest. My board was purchased a month ago and worked with Bd fx6100 good but maybe you got a board before the bios update to cover Bd.

Move the RAM to the other two slots. Then it will magically boot right up.
(and in the pic, it looks like one of the RAM sticks isn't properly seated at the bottom)

Omg. I did not think of RAM in wrong slots or imcompataple RAM. What is the LED debug code? Neil, that's a great call. Poor Sam is pulling his 1100T out of another rig this morning. If it is not the bios I apologize Sam. It was late..... Time will tell.

Well, I got a beep code for no memory so i swapped the sticks over to the other slots. beep code went away but still wont post. haven't swapped the 1100t over yet.

As for the atx connectors, here is what i've tried. my psu has two 4-pin connectors. i've put them both in the 8-pin slot, one in the 4 pin and one in the 8 pin, and just one in the 4 pin. still won't post.

i'm starting to get pretty frustrated. put my 1100t rig together and like an hour and it booted fine. don't know what gives here.

I'm sure you've probably already checked "all" your connections in the build?

Can't remember for sure (it's been a really long time), but I think this happened to me and I pulled the video card and reseated securely.

Your dual 4-Pin plugs fit together on one side of each other. A lot like the extra 4-Pin plug on the main power to the Mo-Bo.

Make sure that you match them together (side to side) before you plug them in. They only fit together one way and then they're plugged in together.

If this doesn't do it for you, I would remove the motherboard from the case and try to boot it on the bench. There is no reason why it came with a BIOS that will not boot an FX CPU. That doesn't make sense to me.
Also, when you take the motherboard out, look to see if there are any extra stand-offs under the board where they should not be. You already had a board in that box before, right? So maybe the old stand-off pattern may not be the same and an errant stand-off is grounding the board improperly. That will prevent it from booting too.

I know that you already tried to reset the BIOS,.....right?

Use the MemOK! Button. It's function is for the RAM in cases of a bad post. Read the instruction book on the MenOK! Function.
