Yeah, the PC will run PowerDVD 11 Ultra for BD disks, and Splash Pro Ex for all files. The latter plays all audio formats, Master, TruedHD, DD+, and more with no codecs installed whatsoever. Then for good measure, it will run DVD Ranger 4, so I can rip right to it! It needs power for the latter function.

They are not ther same brand. I think they are the same speed and size. I have three Kingston KVR1333D3N9K3/6GB chips and three Corsair TR3X6G1333C9 chips. I hope they'll work together. Can anyone figure this out?

OK then. The way you do it is to separate them according to channel. The Motherboard's manual identifies the two slots that are channel A and also the B. One type of memory in the A channel and the other in the B channel. It should work just fine.
If it doesn't work with the two brands of memory in there, just run two of either one and you'll be OK. 8GB isn't really required for HTPC usage, 4GB will work well too.
I just looked at a pic of your board and the channels are marked by color. Put two of the same memory into the black slots and the others into the red slots.

I will try what you say, 2 in slots 1 and 3, and 2 in slots 2 and 4. Meanwhile here XMS3 is the Corsair and here Kingston Technology Company - Kingston Memory Search - Search Results for: KVR1333D3N9K3/6G is the Kingston.

They're both rated at the same 1.5 voltage and they have the same timings too. You'll be OK doing that.

You do not need that much memory in a HTPC. More memory does not give better performance.

For ripping movies you do not need more then 4Gb of RAM... fast and multi-core CPU will do all... but if you have already - use
    What case you have ?

The only thing that makes a differense is dual will do better than single channel. Ripping a movie will not use all the memory so that point is moot. If he rips a movie and watches a movie good luck on that. The AMD Multi core processor will handle that better than Intel but he will not be able to watch at the same time. I tried in the Bulldozer review and the movie was choppy.

Dr Death, I have it, I'll use it despite your comments. With an estimated 7TBs of HDD, I want more memory to mange them, when I run ASC!

BTW, I have a 750 watt PSU for this. It's probably more than I need, but I have it.

Please let us know how it all works out. I have a feeling you'll like the way it works.
7TB's of storage might hold a few movies,.......
