i forgot how to use the jumper swich ?

Turn off the system and then move the jumper to pins 2&3 from the default 1&2. Wait for five seconds and return the jumper to the defaut position and restart the PC.
BIOS should be reset now.

so do i unplug the psu or does it need stand buy power

Not required. Just make sure it's turned off. You can unplug it if you want to, but not required.

Some of them require you to move the jumper then press the power button to turn unit on. Wait 5 secs then turn back off. Move jumper back and restart. Good luck

I need more info. What board, cpu and memory are you using?

I have a question for you. Which video card are you running and does your board have integrated video? If it does, remove your gpu or swap with another one and see if it gets past the code 64 error. Let me know the results

cpu is amd athlon 2 270 the board is a asrock 890gx extreme4 r2.0 graphics card is a amd 6970 memory 2133 mkz 16gb

got a boot screen but can't access the boot menu or bios

Thanks., Try the GPu and also try removing all you usb devices. See if there is any difference. 1 of those should be good.
