Default Rumor Mill: AMD IV X12 170-12 Cores 24mb Cache 6Ghz

Note - This article is based upon a rumor, please take it with a grain of salt since nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
Chiphell forums is the source of various leaks, may it be related to graphics or processors. Today, Chiphell users have got some really interesting details to share regarding AMD’s upcoming desktop processors. We know that AMD is currently working on to release their latest 28nm Steamroller based Kaveri APUs in 2014 but it looks like AMD has a well kept secret which has been hidden until now.

AMD Phenom IV X12 170 – The 12 Core and 6 GHz Clocked CPU

Codenamed Baeca, the Phenom IV X12 170 processor is built on a 25nm process. AMD has never mentioned plans to use 25nm process in its 2013-2014 roadmap, the only 28nm process designed Steamroller arrives in 2014 with the Kaveri APU. So this is a false assumption, furthermore the Phenom IV X12 170 processor would outdo the 8 core FX-series featuring 12 cores and a 6 GHz base clock speed. All of this within a 75W TDP package. The CPU would also feature a L3 cache of 24 MB. Sure seems alot no?
The processor comes with new instruction sets which include 3DNow(+), AMD-V and AMD-IV. It is mentioned on the CPU-Z that the processor is in ES phase and was tested with an internal AM4 motherboard from ASUS. Yes, it seems so the leaker has found out that the new Phenom IV X12 170 processor would only be compatible with the AM4 (1356-Pin) socket. The processor sounds like a beast but when would it launch? the leaker has mentioned that the AMD Phenom IV X12 170 would launch in mid-2014 or 2H of 2014 after the launch of 28nm Steamroller based Kaveri APUs.

If honey has her pants off you should give her one.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out as it would bring AMD back into the fray with a processor that is somewhat efficient.

    Thanks for posting Saturn.

This will most likely to AMD partners only, just like the 5GHz chip. They do not want a bunch of people ranting how bad the chip is, like they did with Bulldozer. Zach, what do you need a 12 core chip for ? you should already know that even with 12 cores and at 6GHz it's NOT going to be as fast as a 6 core Intel. Like your wife said, put your pants back on, or leave them off, shut down your computer and make love to your wife and put a smile on her face .

    OMG! A PINK case?

(cue Hellen Ready's "I Am Woman")

    just kidding,........LOL!

BTW: 12 Cores with a 24MB Cache would probably make for a mighty smooth machine! I think that the motherboards used with it will make it pass or fail. It will need a good chipset and features to go with it.

I'll add the window and do the cherry blossom tree. I have an airbrush, I am just not a pro at it but, should be fairly easy with my skill level. Not much detail in a tree. I am currently trying to decide on the window layout of the shinobi case I am working on. I got her a AMD A8-6600K, just waiting on a decent deal on a motherboard. The only other things I need to finish her build are Ram, Mouse, and Keyboard.

Oh and a Cooler Master Sideon 120 for cooling. I didn't get her an SSD, Got her a 1TB Seagate Barracuda 64MB Cache 7200RPM.

Default Re: Rumor Mill: AMD IV X12 170-12 Cores 24mb Cache 6Ghz

Yeah something is seriously wrong with these specs. It just doesnt make sense. lol Anys 25nm is wrong. 12core at 6ghz at 75w is bs unless AMD found something no one else has. Im an AMD fan but I just dont see this happening. I cant see them even releasing this for the sever or workstation market. Like the terrible writing author said, CPU-z can already identify something that is a year away is bs. Tell this dude to get an editor. lol

12 cores at maybe 4ghz with a 24mb cache sitting maybe 90w built on 28nm FD-soi would actual fair way better then even Stan would give it credit for. No one is thinking about the advancements in resonant clock mesh and the technology acquired in the seamicro deal. We will see. They better get their sh*t together!
