It should have been at this price point in the first place. I feel bad for those that bought it at $900. The sad part is I know a few that did on FB and forums. lol Ouch!

Things are not working as planned, which could also mean that the performance, as well as overclocking capibilities are just not there, that's to big of a price cut, which more than likely means it's not working as planned. Since the release of bull dozer and all the phony hype that went with it, a lot of people lost their trust in AMD. They need more chips like like the FX-8350

This chip has to come down to $300 just to make it even worth considering to buy. And the reason I say that is it's still not as strong a cpu as the 3770k or 4770k, but because you can grab an asus crosshair V for such a good price, at least that combo makes it a little more worthwhile. Otherwise, go 8350, or intel.

Firstly, hi, I'm new to these forums :-)

Secondly, this chip should never have existed in the first place. This was a waste of time,a s the chips on the AM3+ socket are far too power hungry for their own good. I personally use an 8350 and have it clocked at 4.4 Ghz. While it performs admirably, especially at it's price point, it outs out WAY too much heat and guzzles too much juice for me to want to run it 24/7.

All signs currently point to one of two things: Either the AM3+ style sockets will die a horrible, bloody death, or they will be forced to adopt the hUMA-style architecture that their APU lineup is getting starting with the Kaveri Steamroller-cored chips. Since their heterogenous system architecture seems to support off-loading workloads seamlessly between the CPU and the GPU by sharing the same memory channels and support, and the AM3+ socket requires a discrete video solution to function properly, it makes sense that this would happen, and could make the platform even MORE flexible than the FM2+ socket that will start hUMA support since the end-user determines their discrete video solution used. Either way, even at 400 bucks I wouldn't touch this chip with someone ELSE'S money since you can get (see: reliably) damn near the same performance out of a chip that costs half the price, at less TDP and power consumption.

I DO, however, have VERY strong hopes for AMD in the coming year, since they do seem to be on the right track for regaining more market share and giving nVidia and Intel reasons to NOT simply rest on their laurels. Note the recent reaction by nVidia as a result of AMD's new Volcanic Islands GPU line: they have renigged on their statement that there would be no more 700-series GPU's, and yet they are nwo not only planning MORE mid-ranged cards as low down as a GTX 750, but are ALSO planning a new dual GK110 card. Healthy markets mean better products from everyone, FOR everyone.

... and that's all I got to say about that x-)

Default Re: AMD slashed price to $400 for the FX9590

Weren't these last 2 fx chips supposed to be the last of the AM3+ socket anyways?

That would seem to be the talk at present, yes. However there have also been representatives from AMD quoted as saying that this socket will be around for a good many years. What exactly that is supposed to mean is up for interpretation; it COULD mean that the socket will evolve with the rest of their lineup, which would mesh up with my speculation of something like AM4 or whatever they will decide to call it gaining hUMA and Excavator support, with a possible refresh to the present north bridge to actually support this unless they move north bridge functionality onto the die, which would be FANTASTIC news for those of us who want a SFF AMD rig but don't want to be pigeon-holed into the APU lineup (even though it isn't really a bad lineup at all).

It could ALSO mean that moving forward we will only see a refresh of the Piledriver cores roll out for the same exact socket, and that they will basically leave it there to die off on it's own, gently riding off into the sunset.

I agree its a better option to me to go with the FX8350! The 9590 requirements just to to run it and keep it cool much less attempt Overclocking it is a drain on the entire system and questions the life expectency of the chip itself without extensive cooling and no real benefits! Im better off saving my pennies ang getting my hands on the FX 8350 hopefully before its end of life! I would be thrilled to soon show up in the forums with my new FX 8350 build to show off!

does any1 know why the USA stores are still sticking to the original pricing planns???
    Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, CPUs / Processors, Processors - Desktops, FX-Series, Eight-Core
9 hundred is still the standard here

maybe the euro folks wernt falling for the insanity and to sell any over there the price had to drop??????
if thats the case a lot of americans with to much money must be whats keeping the price up in the air
