The R9 290X seems like a beast for a sub $500 card and a R9 280 is priced VERY VERY well for the performance you are going to be getting...

I may have to dump my GTX 670s for these!
Kenny, where did you read that the 290 will be around $500 ?? This is supposed to be the worlds fastest GPU, so I kinda doubt they would sell for $500. unless AMD is trying to corner the GPU market.

AMD said they will not be releasing any Ultra Enthusiast GPUS like the Titan. They said making a $1000 gpu makes no sense for them as the Ultra market is less then 1%. So since they will not be making a $1000 gpu, that would place the 290 in the range of the 7970 when it was released. The Titan and 7970 performance really was not that far apart in single monitor performance. You also need to remember the 7970 is 2 year old technology. I am sure AMD can match or beat the Titan with the updates they made to GCN, increased memory and memory bandwith over the last 2 years and keep it around the same price point. Titan was born in the opposite direction. A high end workstation/server GPU dumbed down to Desktop class. That is the only reason it cost $1000. Shouldn't look at the price point of titan to be the metric on which amd should place its top end card.

With that said. If AMD makes a card that beats or even comes really close to beating the Titan for around $500 then hell yes they just cornered the market for the next year or 2 while Nvidia deals with R&D for next product cycle. Cant wait to see real numbers with approved Drivers. So Stan do I get to review it? lol

Sandy, are you high lol the 7970 was not even close to the performance on a GTX770 and 780, and your saying it was close to a Titan lol Take another hit on your bong, and get back to me LMAO

You should do some homework buddy. Go read some comparisons. Tech of tomorrow for example. Crysis 3 780 wins by 9 fps. Titan by 15. Does that justify spend $300 more for a 780? Or $750 more for a Titan? Again the 7970 is 2 years old and $350. At higher resolution and multiple monitor the titan does better. No crap it suppose to. I said the results are not as far apart as you would like to believe. Think you sir are a fan boy lol

Shut up and get to work! This argument has been raging for years. Its all about what part of the testing you are looking at. What counts what doesn't. Price blah blah blah. There will never be a clear winner unless AMD makes a card that beats the titan and has it at an great price point like $549. That would be a very clear winner. Lol will that happen. We will see

Can't answer that yet. We don't have solid results for new series and don't know if price will drop further on 7990. So wait a little longer when results start leaking faster

I forget where it was, I read it when articles started to pop up here and there. while the price point I pointed out is not a solid number. But that is where they were targeting. So anywhere between $500-$549 is where the speculation is.
If that is the case, AMD has a great solid winner with performance to $ ratio.
