his link was posted earlier on this morning. It details the expected release dates surrounding the Kaveri APU lineup with three SKU's being on the docket at initial release. Production ready samples become available as of December 5th according to this article, however all of this is still up to speculation until such a time as more official news becomes available.

I, for one, am supremely excited about this and really hope that hUMA does what it says it can do.

I really hope the changes to the new gen APU shows some advancements in performance. We already know it will have a better GPU then Intels on die solution. That is a given. If the next Gen apus can rivial an i5 in cpu performance then they will have a winner. I dont think these are the chips people are waiting for the rival the i7s.

yeah I'm fairly certain that these won't touch an i7 until they have the core efficiency and numbers in place to do so. Still, this is largely a step in the right direction and should give AMD a lot more leverage in the respective segments where they'll be using this.

Can't wait to see how these actually perform. May looking into building a APU system if the hype is real.

New samples of these chips appear to be showing some signs of promise with integer scores that rival the present generation 1150 i7. Let's hope that the final production samples with fully enabled cache gain float-point performance to match as well as some better power targets.

he link is courtesy of WCCFtech.com. Thus far their news sources appear to be fairly reliable so I tend to go there a lot for up-to-the-minute news. Now mind you that these samples are tested only at 1.8 GHz clock speeds and only have 2 MB of cache active.

Thanks for the link. Interesting. It seems strange to be talking APU and i7 in the same sentence. At some point it was bound to happen. AMD appears to be making refinements to cores and processes to the point were an APU can compete outside of the low end. I still beleive 2mb cache is too low and if they continue with no L3 cache they will still fail to reach total i7 or high i5 overall processing power range. They will have a great midrange CPU(apu) for the masses but leave the high end to intel. Now with that said there still may be something based on the same general design that has no GPU, more cores and more cache that can compete at the higher end. If a quad apu design like this can pull this types of numbers a 6 or 8 core with the same design could really make a run at Intels dominance. It is hard to tell what AMD has going on because they have been very very tight lipped about anything they are planning. Just like the R7 and R9, there wasn't a solid leak until right before launch.
