You're a little biased, but then we already know this about you,.....(and you even admit it)

lol I said non overclocking! Not non performing. They perform well. We have the technology We have the capability to make the Haswell not melt. Cooler than it was before, Better, Cooler, Faster!!

Not overclock? What happened to you Neil? Are you sick buddy? Overclocking is what we do! It is behind almost everything we buy! We watercool so we can overclock. Stock settings is not an option!

They are not trash. They are just hot boxes and it is really crap shoot on if you get a good one or a dog. James got a dog. Pete got a dog. I got lucky and got a really good one. They said its 50/50 on what you receive when you open that box. That is jacked up.

OK, I stand corrected on the overclocking part.

I always OC things a bit, then a bit more. You're right, it's what we do,..........

lol You crack me up neil. Glad you are around buddy.

And yes I hope the new sources of income allow for some serious R&D so that can come back strong. If that APU doesn't have a bunch of cores and use about 125w then I dont know if I can run with it I love AMD but I need real computing power. Hell I have 10 tabs and a million apps running at once. lol I had so many things going on at work yesterday I BSOD my pc! lol Its running an i5.

I'm retired, so my compute requirements are less. But I enjoy performance too. I have the i5-4670K system to build, and already have two Intel i7-2600K boxes and the FX8350 box too. There are only three stations here that I have room for and my i7-2600K boxes outperform the FX box, so I may get rid of the FX and go to the three Intel boxes exclusively. When (if) I sell the FX box, that cash will go towards some stronger GPUs.

Personally, can't say I'm sad nor surprised with this news. Since my first and last AMD CPU (486DX4 100), I've always was an INTEL (brute force) user, but, sincerely this will leave all monopoly of High End CPUs to INTEL to do what ever they want and dictate the prices to.

    Always look beyond the limits...

This is just temporary. Not enough juju in the voodoo just yet to read the tea leaves and their messages just yet. Give this some time and let the hUMA chips get released, then we'll have a cleaner picture of what exactly will happen with their lineup. A lot can happen in a year, and it looks like a lot WILL happen with AMD in the next year. Intel doesn't have NOTHING to work on though: their chips have become hit boxes at much less voltage than the AMD chips require, so they could work on the thermals of the smaller manufacturing nodes moving forward. I mean crap with the stock heat sink and stock settings for a 3570K I stressed one that got up OVER 80C in 24C ambient temperature. I have never once had this issue with my AMD chips; my first ever computer ran an Athlon 3000+ in an A-Open motherboard, I completely forgot to put TIM on the heatsink when I used it, and that machine ran EXACTLY like that for MANY years. Never once had issues with heat. Intel, on the other hand, has crammed so many transistors into so small a living space that they have no room to breathe, therefore temperatures have a sort of exponential growth to them rather than linear growth as seems to be the case with the AMD chips.

I digress; The point is that everyone saw this coming, the FX chip lineup is plenty strong enough for it's target audience AND it's price range, and to be honest it'll serve me well into 2015 when we will see what AMD's high performance future is. Remember, they still have the GPU division, and they certainly aren't giving up on top tier performance... though like Intel they need to work on their GPU heat output x-P. They are just going to go about it a bit differently, and I for one am extremely excited to see what exactly they can deliver next. Not as an AMD red team member though, but as a general computing enthusiast.

If I hadn't spent money on a new Nikon camera and two silverstone tundra CPU coolers, I would buy it for that price.

I still plan to do an APU build sometime soon. I want to see how the new APUs stack up to the current line up.
An A10-6800 would probably work well for what I plan to use it for,.........

The writing has been on the wall for a while now, but yeah, it sucks that a whole market segment is losing it's competitive edge.

Well that sucks Ive been wanting to do my FX8350 build and they are talikng this! Guess I better save my change soon get my board and CPU soon!

Yeah, they (Newegg) had a ECS A960M-MV Micro-ATX AM3+ Mainboard on a wazoo sale. ($22.98 Shipped)
I have a triple-core CPU on the shelf, so I bought the board so I can build a little PC, and sell it for a little cash. (GPU Savings)

A fully functioning board for $22.98 shipped? I couldn't resist it.
    (I know, I'm weak)

The FX-8350 is still a great CPU Bill. I love the performance I get with mine. If you get one of them and have a good GPU to go with it, you'll be in fine shape for future games. If you begin to slow down, you can just buy a better GPU and it will be awesome all over again.

Hey Neil what I plan if possible after I buy grandkids Christmas, is buy the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA for me for my Bday DEC 24th that way I can go ahead and use it with my AMD BE965! And after Christmas, Ill save up the change for the FX8350 and drop it on there! Then INstead of building my brother a A-10 6800 Ill let him have that current board Im using and the BE965 with 8 Gigs of Patriot Viper 3!! Its already a running system and I guarantee he has never had anything that fast he will be thrilled plus I got a Sapphire Radeon HD that will just freak him out tweak it to 4ghz!!Just give you an Idea he is running I think a P4 anyway so there would be no comparrision! He will be happy! My brother and his wife have been there to help me anytime possible and Ive about died in the lobby of the hospital where we live so neededless to say Ive put him through a lot of stress and it would anyone if you think you family is gng to die in front of you.Of course when you have a moron of a Nuerosurgeon putting your life in danger and his own nurses told me not to listen him, if I left that hospital I would die in less than 12hrs if I didnt the surgeon LOL them me and that genuis got into a Huge argument!! I maen a HUGE argument and it got out of controll a LITTLE and Im out there calling him a so and so Muther F__K__R well just made it worse! You would have had to be there to understand why I was being highly aggitated at him and then on the other hand I would have to be a little out of my mind to **** him off then he do my surgery a few hours later! So I dont know which on of us was the stupid one. but Im thinking you dont **** off the nurosurgeon before he does the 2nd brainsurgury !! Long story short my brother and my sister n law have been there for me so I want to fix him up they are the greatest!!They deserve it and I dont have much but it being from me its personal!!! Besides his wife Judy when we were all younger looks like Reba Mc Intyre you know Country music singer and sounds like her! So incase I happen to kill over it will be somthing from me to them!
PS dont ever have brain surgery it will make you talk to much ramble on and **** like that! Sorry LMAO

Ha-Ha! you are a trip! Pissing off your surgeon just prior to an operation may not have been the smartest thing to do Bill!
I like what you're doing for your brother and Judy. BTW: Reba is hot, even at her age now,.....If your brother's wife looks like her, then he is a lucky guy.

You take care, and don't **** off the docs anymore!! LOL!
