    Yeah that is nice but where does that leave consumers for the next 2 plus years. They need to answer this question soon. Peps is going to start bouncing on them. Cant keep up with stuff while rocking a 2 year old board and 2 year old cpus for much longer.

    i guess they figure the APU market will hold them over in the mean time. personally i think AM3+ needs some new updated boards

    Agreed on all counts. Enthusiasts should probably know sooner than later what their plan is regarding the future of AM3+ and the processor lineup that will succeed it. Granted my experiences with the new APU so far tell me that I think I know the answer we'll get (spoilers, processors like the FX chip are probably going away), and chips like Kaveri will become super powerful without being super expensive... assuming that HSA takes off like it should.

    Where did they say that the CPU is presently available? Couldn't find it myself, but even then wouldn't it only presently work in a server board? I can't imagine there being an AM3+ board that could properly handle that many cores given how much of a hard time they even have managing those 220W TDP eight core units.

    It is def for server boards. There is only one opteron chip that I know of that will work in the AM3+ socket. Not worth it for what we do.
