    Default 8350 or 8370 or E

    Within the next couple of months I will be getting a new 8 core cpu. At the Egg the regular price for the 8350 is listed for $180, both versions of the 8370 are $200. All things considered, is the 8370 worth the extra $20?

    Honestly, considering the base clocks are the same, probably not. The only thing is, the 8370 might be better binned which could give you more overclocking headroom than the 8350. I wouldn't mess with any of the E variants since they just cut down the base clocks.

    The difference between those two CPUs is almost null (both are octa core, base clock speed 4GHz, TDP 125W...), the only three differences are:
    FX 8370BE has 4.3GHz Turbo Clock vs 4.2GHZ of FX 8350, the FX 8370BE is newer CPU (sept 2014 vs oct 2012 of FX 8350), and the FX 8370BE has a lower typical power consumption (101-102W vs 160 of FX 8350).
    The latest prices of those two (by Amazon & NewEgg)
    FX 8370BE $189.99-- Amazon.com: AMD FX-8370 Black Edition 8 Core CPU Processor AM3+ 4300Mhz 125W 16MB FD8370FRHKBOX: Computers & Accessories
    FX 8370BE $189.99-- AMD FX-8370 Vishera 8-Core 4.0GHz (4.3GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W FD8370FRHKBOX Desktop Processor - Newegg.com
    FX 8350BE $165.93-- Amazon.com: AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition Processor: Computers & Accessories
    FX 8350BE $174.99-- AMD Processor FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W D8350FRHKBOX - Newegg.com

    BE = Black Edition
    PS. Forget the E version.

    This is actually a part of my "Master Gift List". This way, when they ask, what do you want for """"""", I say check the list, (b-day is at the end of the month). The only time I can go off the list is if the bottom falls out on the pricing.
