Good for you, but actually what was the problem?
Always look beyond the limits...
im still learning about this board,,reading as much as possable
one thing i am seeing as a problem is the bios seems to be locked, as to NOT alow the user to over, or underclock the cpu
all the options are there, but the action of actually clicking on the option is restricted?
whats up with that?
cpu in question is a 9590

That's strange, I can't find anything about the 990FX Gaming has locked BIOS.
P.S. Have you tried to contact the Gigabyte directly?

Do you have the latest BIOS?
I have the same board, and I hope that I don't run into the same problems with mine.
I only get to 5.0GHz - 5.1GHz with my 990FXA-UD3 board. Maybe they're locking any real OC out due to heat considerations?
EDIT: I see that they have not released any new drivers or BIOS files for these boards.

i did turn off the turbo
this in ability to "underclock" the cpu makes it run .25 gig faster than i had it running on any other board
thats the 4.75 base clock speed
funny thing is, on this board, this 4.7 is a constant 10-15 degrees celcius cooler than it ran on other boards at 4.5 gig clock speed
go figure
another problem is the "N/A" process running in my network
if you pay close attention to each process running on your network every one has a name, remote address, port, and process ID
with this board i have an unidentified process
this is straight from fresh install, and i have done the install repatedly
also, now microsoft has thier spyware running from the point where you activate windows, it downloads itself first thing
"choice.microsoft.com" is transmitting data FROM my pc
this is win 7 pro, with NO windows updates, only activation
so now we have to figure out how to localize this microsoft virus, put a strangle hold on it, kill it, steralize the source so it does no repropigate
then share the good news with the world
so every one else can enjoy NOT being spyed on

Microsoft is running a lot of new updates that make Win-7 and 8 report back to them like Win-10 does. Safer Networking has a program to install that shuts it all down.
Find it here
I use it on all of my PCs.

Hmm, the overclock, underclock issue seems strange to me. I bought the board and put it through the paces and I didn't have any issues adjusting the multiplier, but I do think it was on those BIOS types where you have to press the + and - keys in order to adjust value. Clicking didn't work. Out side of that, the only other issue I noticed was the LLC doing the opposite of what it should. The Vcore would drop as the CPU loaded up, rather raising, meaning I had to set a very high Vcore to get it to drop to the right voltage. I think it could only be set to low, it couldn't be disabled.

@realniel
i have used the privacy app, but i am still getting network uploads and downloads from non identifyable devices / interfaces
and all the remote and local adress & ports used by the unidentifyable interface are showing in encrypted code, so i cant see it to id it for killing it or blocking it
all the other traffic is normal & can be properly delt with as an admin would normaly do

This can't be good.
Personal Computers are no longer personal.
The assshats that serve ads are now at the corporate level, and hacking us at will.
Years ago they saw a chance to monetize our computer use (against our will) and they jumped at it like flies on a dog turd.
This was quickly dubbed "illegal activity" by the authorities, and the ~supposedly~ legitimate companies.
There ensued a war between the asshats and the establishment's hackers and the asshats won again and again.
After several years, (think, now) the companies that were fighting this illegal intrusion into our privacy realized that the asshats were not only winning, but that they were making money, hand over fist.
So they've made the short hop from being our protectors, to being the ones that are making money off of our browsing habits. They're the ones that will profit from us, using our person information, against our will.
They're taking the whole pie from the "illegal" hackers, and eating it too.
Having access to (and completely understanding) the operating system's source code is a huge plus for them.
Building the spying functions into the OS is like taking candy from a baby. (do you want a pacifier yet?)
Making it free to us, like Win-10 is, eliminates a lot of our legal standing in the matter.
Yep, the personal computer is no longer personal.
