Default Behold! Mini-ITX AM4 Ryzen Motherboard

I give you your first solid look at a mini-ITX motherboard for AM4. Hasn't released yet, but seems like we'll be seeing more of that form factor with the Ryzen 5 release in April. Weird that Biostar is the first one on the boat with this. Might benefit them pretty well.

Biostar has really been stepping up there game in recent times. Both their design and components have improved. I'm really interested in seeing how their reputation from real world users develops in the near future.

Hummphhh...1 M2, 2 SATA, and is that a Flipping DVI connector on there? I can't see them, but I'm hoping that top connector isn't PS2!

I dunno Sloth...the look is nice, but that legacy DVI connector just seems a waste of space and $ that could have been spent on another M2 (for example).....

Maybe I just have a different perspective. They are definitely still in the "budget" market and they know it. It will take a while to establish any kind of reputation for quality and gain entry to the "enthusiast" or even "mid-range" market. As a "budget" person myself, I have over half a dozen monitors in the house and only one of them has a HDMI port. All the rest have DVI, and some not even digital. I just see it as them knowing their customers.

Fair enough! I was looking around my house last night, and while *most* of my monitors support DVI, only one of them doesn't support HDMI. So, I'm in kind of the opposite corner from you there. I guess I just look at a brand new 2017 Motherboard, and think "Why are these legacy ports still hanging around?". While putting together my wishlist of parts for my next build, I was looking at some of MSI's new Motherboards, and they're beautiful. Until I see that ghastly 1980's PS2 port eating up space on the back panel. WTF?

So. From the perspective of leveraging a whole host of older monitors and other hardware, I get you. From a marketing perspective, I find it hard to grasp putting a M.2 Port on a motherboard, and then saddling it with a DVI out. I feel the same way about USB 1 & 2 ports, Serial ports, and to some extent SATA ports (given the transition phase we're in, I can't complain about them too much), as well as standard PCI slots.

I would LOVE to see a modern Z270, or AMD 370 motherboard with No legacy ports, no SATA (m.2 and U.2 only), no USB2 or 1.1, and possibly even no analog audio outputs (HDMI or Displayport or TOSlink only).

The space savings might even allow extra m.2 slots (PCIE lanes allowing), and cleaner board layouts.

But. PS2 ports are still here, so it seems unlikely I'm going to see anything like that soon.

    I get it though Sloth.
