Default Anyone have experience with MSI boards?

In the coming weeks, AMD is releasing their new AM3 platform with the integrated DDR3 memory controller. I am trying to decide on which board to get once they are released, and I am wondering who here has experience with MSI motherboards. I have owned a few of their products previously, but never a mobo. Their driver support has been a little shaky in my experience in the past (for my graphics cards).

The one I am looking at is seen here.

    So my questions are:
    1. How well do MSI's boards normally overclock?
    2. Anyone had any major stability issues?
    3. Does Dr. MOS really help overclocking stability?
    4. Can someone please explain to me what exactly Active Phase Switching (APS) is?

Thanks in advance for any help here.

    Shattered.likeness

P.S. I know Core i7 is out. I want to stick with AMD, so please no telling me I should go with core i7 instead.

I had a MSI board in the past but that's in the Athlon XP days
But i must say they have been recently been overshadowed by Asus ROG series Motherboards, Gigabyte and DFI Lan Party series as serious overclocking motherboards

In my opinion i feel that MSI is sort of playing catch up to these 4 motherboard makers in terms of overclocking. But they have been doing quite okay with the Dr Mos and especially their recent x58 i7 boards

No official review on the AM3 Motherboard yet but it does look very very good as compared to Asus's AM3 mobos. I feel that this is by far the best AM3 motherboard i have seen from MSI in such long time

    Thanks Bully

I have been scouring the net for any and all information I can find on the AM3 processors and on any motherboards that are being released. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any info as of yet on an ROG board that might be comparable to the Rampage Extreme. DFI has only released BIOS updates on their AM2+ boards, but no LAN Party boards as of yet.

On the other hand, the ASUS M4A79T Deluxe looks like it will be decent, but it is far from what we have seen is the best from them. The Gigabyte board looks to be great as well, but I am turned off to it because of the lime green IDE slot, that messes up the entire color scheme. Yes, I know that colors don't affect performance, but its nice to have some sort of scheme to the inside of the case.

Anyone figured out what the APS is?

Basically the APS is the "Environment Friendly" way for companies such as MSI to reach out to the green ppl ^^...

In other words its a power saver in some of the MSI Mobo. pretty neat really..but soon other mobo companies will come up with something to compete. You use less electricity and in return its cheaper electric bill...

Im not sure if this will work tho = / i cant find much on it sept that 0.o
