Honestly, I wish that EVGA would come out with a board for the AM3's. Something along the lines of the Classified would be great.

I think Chew either wrote or helped write the bios on the Gigabyte AM3 flagship UD5P.

I wanted to try the Crosshair myself but went with the M4A79T Deluxe due to a more mature bios. It hasn't even arrived yet and I'm second guessing myself, thinking I should have gone with another Gigabyte.

That GIGABYTE board is the best on the market right now, followed by the MSI 790FX-GD70, then the DFI LP DK board, then the ASUS M4A79T Deluxe. I have on here and it does the job, but would love to get ahold of a UD5P as well.

How do you plan on cooling the 955 you have on the way? If you are getting the best overclocking board out there, I'd expect that you will be wanting to water cool it, correct?

I have an OCZ Vendetta 2 on the way.

I plan to build my own water cooling system.

The way I have it planned in my head, all the materials will be from a plumbing supply house except water blocks.
    Totally passive except a pump.

You will definitely have to make a worklog for that. I'm very interested in what you have in your head. I have seen someone use copper pipes to streamline and connect everything in their cooling loop. But, he used an XSPC triple rad to help get rid of the heat.

AMD to release its fastest processor in 10 days

There is little or no doubt that AMD's Shanghai e.g. K10.5 architecture is the best one to date. Six years after the debut of original K8 architecture [Opteron/Athlon 64], its modified version is finally passing the thermal-imposed barrier of 3.2 GHz.

In only ten days time [NDA on processors that AMD sent out to selected reviewers expires on August 13th, 2009 at 06:01AM], AMD will release the Phenom II 965 Black Edition, a multiplier-unlocked processor ticking at 3.4 GHz with the expected power consumption. After the unhappy break that was K10 e.g. Barcelona/Agena, it is good to see AMD improving on the CPU core and releasing faster clocked products and keeping roughly the same thermal levels just like they did with Athlon and Athlon 64.

Also worth noting is that we might see AMD or Intel releasing the fastest clocked x86 processor of all times in 2010 - the current record lies with Pentium Extreme Edition 965 clocked at 3.73 GHz, featuring a "lovely" real-world TDP of 162W. With advancements in process technology, a 162W TDP would now fit a quad-core processor at 4+GHz, instead of dual-core at 3.73 GHz - can anyone say that technology is not moving ahead?

To make matters more interesting, it looks like AMD decided to battle Intel with legalized overclocking - given that the Phenom II 900 series mostly consists out of Black Edition CPUs. In fact, we might argue that AMD is mostly targeting overclockers now - if you take a look at the whole Athlon II and Phenom II line-up, you'll see that the percentage of Black Edition processors is unusually high.

Interesting to see the OC & performance results.
Don't be suprise Intel has 4Ghz processor lock tight in their vault but if the TDP is beyond 160ish watts for quad or Six cores. How the heck are we going to keep it cool?

At the moment there's no Peltier can't keep overclocked i7 cool decently and Phase is not a mainstream yet.

Hopefully, Skyguy uses L2N for the upcoming review

It's more like 700w but still it's currently still can handle overclocked i7 @ 4Ghz and beyond with Hyperthread enables. Boreas will keep the load temps around mid 60ish with 100% work load for the TECs. The i7 has 130W TDP, it's generate up to 300w of heat when you overclock it over 4Ghz and we're talking about 162w TDP processor here.

My point was you're still can use Boreas or watercooling to cool these hotty processors but you just can't OC to much higher than around early 4Ghzish. Unless the engineers at Intel & AMD come up a better process with 4Ghz+ chip with TDP under 100w.

I'm looking forward to see Intel new i9 on the horizon, they're coming soon near you.

Yes they are, and one way or another I will own one lol , and will be cooling it with a modded Boreas, or the new improved Elite.

Pump / Res combo, Heat Killer, which is all ready done, what I would like to do, is add stronger Tecs, I have been talking about doing this for awhile now.

Maybe increasing them to 20w so would not have to go with a different Mtec controller. I have three Boreas Chillers now, two that I'm using and one waiting for my core i9 build. So far, I have the Boreas, case, power supply, and SSD .

When did you get a Heatkiller for your Boreas, Stan? I didn't know that you got one too.
