I've just been wondering one thing. There's hundreds of people "talking" about what's going to happen to this business. There's nearly as many hoping that he'll recover from whatever it was that went down. How many are actually offering to help?

I know it's easy for me to say being half way across the country, but if I did live near there, I would definitely be inclined to do something. I'd at least have attempted to contact him and leave him a message/e-mail/comment of "Hey man, I have no idea what the real story is, but crazy **** happens all the time no matter who you are. I hate to see you're hard-built business fall apart because of it, and a lot of people feel the same way I do. Let us know what we can do to help. Remember, loyal customers are a valuable resource in more ways than a steady paycheck."

Of course, he's probably inundated with far more curiosity and criticism than support, so it may not actually reach him and if it did he may not be the kind of person willing to say, "OK, I could use some help." In that case by now I'd likely have gotten enough of a bug up my ass to devise some way of arranging through a friend, family, or employee/business partner to get a bunch of people together to show up one day with cleaning supplies, tools, etc. and about a dozen volunteers offering to answer phones, do damage control, and process unfinished orders or whatever's needed.

Of course, like I said, I can say this because it's only words and I'm a 20-hour drive away. Or, maybe it's just because I live in a small town and we think differently about local business and taking care of our neighbors. I'm honestly not criticizing anyone for NOT helping. I'm just venting because I hate to see it end badly and I've always been the sort to say "what can I do?" instead of "That's too bad." *shrug* Feel free to ignore me, I have a habit of thinking out loud (or typing as the case may be).

I understand you completely. I live in a very small town too. We like to buy local when we can.
We help each other out too.

I am a pain in the arse and make jokes about a lot of stuff but If I was closer to them I would not hesitate to offer some of time to get things back on track. I wouldnt be able to work 20-40hrs but a couple hrs here and there a week is possible. Not for any kind of payment. Just to maintain options in the custom areana. It also helps some of the companies that we rely on. If they dont have an outlet for products we could loss them as well. So I feel what you are saying big time.

No need to ignore you. You will always be allowed to speak what is on your mind.

Further notice means exactly that. There's still room for a little optimism.

Yeah, but also could means that they are closed for good and will be no further notice. Just not to forget, few days ago unofficial statement was the FCPU working on skeleton crew, which means they are still in business (decreased, but still working), it does not means they are closed.
