    Default Great AMD/ATI Graphics Cards for bitcoin/litecoin mining

    I have been studying the hardware chart we shared in other threads and put together a small list of great "bang for your buck" cards for bitcoin/litecoin mining:

    If you can get hold of or already have any of these older cards, they are very efficient at mining the virtual currency:

    5850 = 300-400 kHash/s
    5870 = 350-400 kHash/s
    5970 = 750 kHash/s

    6950 = 400-500 kHash/s
    6970 = 500+ kHash/s
    6990 = 800-900 kHash/s (actually the best compared to all other graphics cards - it's even better than the current AMD flagship the 7970 = 750 kHash/s)

    If you are upgrading and want something more current, these two cards probably offer the best bang for your buck:

    7850 = 350-400 kHash/s
    7950 = 550-650 kHash/s

    Here are a few NewEgg links to available cards:

    GIGABYTE GV-R795WF3-3GD Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Newegg.com

    GIGABYTE GV-R785OC-2GD Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Newegg.com

    GIGABYTE GV-R785OC-1GD Radeon HD 7850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Newegg.com

    The 6990's are virtually unavailable at this point, except for insane prices (over $1k each). Looks like the 7950's are your best 'bang for your buck' if you can pick them up for around $300. Thanks for posting this list!

    You can find them on eBay once in a while for around $600.
    I have a 6990 in my AMD rig.... I paid right about $500 for the card

    Trying to get all the details to set-up my AMD rig for litecoin mining.. haven't gotten all the info I wanted yet so I haven't done it

    I am going to use that AMD rig I build in the 630 for lite coin mining...
    It has the Asus CVFZ and FX8350 and my HD6990 in it.

    I have been using the rig for some lite rendering stuff, but haven't done any mining since I have been reading up on it still.
    been getting allot of info on the litecoin forums that dave linked us to and also just info in general over the net..

    I just began doing some experiments with GUIMiner and my HD7850...it's giving me about 256MHash/sec...while I see it should give 350-400KHash/s ..how is it possible? The FX8350 at stock clock instead crunches at 8MHash/sec
