    Default USB Block Erupter?

    Hi guys

OK, so i got in to reading a bit about this mining stuff, and thought i would try it out. Aaaand i was struck instantly, and now i want more! I have an Nvidia gtx780 in my computer (my only computer), and it is achieving TERRIBLE MH/s, only about 300 at best. So i was thinking of getting a usb block erupter, because they seem like the most cost/power efficient way to mine for Bitcoins?

I was looking at the Bitmain AntMiner U1 with 1.6GH/s, it only costs about 65$, but are they any good or are they a scam? Because they seem a lot cheaper than most other usb block erupters out there, which only give around 300MH/s at a 35$ pricetag.

hm ok ...well i don't have the money to invest 300+ $ in a new gpu for scypt mining or dedicated ASIC miner...oh well, might get one just for fun though anyway, it wasn't meant to be a serious income or anything anyway, more of a hobby thing

well i took some time, but my bitmain antminer finally came in last week. I must say i was quite dissapointed when i hooked it up, because it gets so crazy hot at stock clock speeds that it starts shutting down. So the cooling block on it is woth absolutely nothing!

no worries though, i had a small fan and heatsink lying around, so i mounted it and it helped a lot on the temperature and stability of the unit.

    USB Block Erupter?-antminer2.jpg

it works fine(once the heatsink is replaced), and it's not for making money just for fun. Might try and OC this, it is rumored that you can push these to ~4 GH/s, might see if i can get it that far
