Sweet Jesus that's an awesome deal. Wish I had A. the money to purchase one, and 2. the PSU to handle it comfortably.

I wouldn't unless I were using the CUDA cores for Adobe software acceleration on top of gaming. Sure there's less power draw with the 970's, but individually the 970 is more or less only slightly ahead of the 290X, and in a dual card config AMD cards that run XDMA are actually showing better performance scaling than current gen nVidia solutions since they can leverage the added bandwidth of the PCI bus to communicate. 1 GB/s(nVidia SLI bridge)<16GB/s(PCIe bus).

Now that I think about it though, you might actually be better off buying two 290X cards rather than the 295X2 unless you REALLY wanted a one card solution since you could get a dual GPU config cheaper that way.

It's a good deal. But prices continue to fold on GPUs every day. If I were to buy now and they went down a lot, I'd have to cry, whine, and shudder.

Not at all - real world gaming results have been about the same in the reviews that compare them. Besides, the naked eye can't tell 85fps from 90fps. And you already know I am not an nVidia fanboy, you couldn't get an nVidia card into my build for years. There are just times you need to face the facts rather than spend gobs of money simply due to allegiance. I am hoping the next AMD series puts me back to red, but at this point my hopes aren't high.

So, you have the power draw issue. Then you have the whole "liquid cooling" issue that is completely one-size-fits-none and makes your build look cheap/messy. Then there is the OC potential, oh yeah, and the software/drivers....

I would take a single one of these over a 295X. 99.9% of the time you would never be able to see the performance difference with the naked eye (on monitor setups I, and most people, am actually using - no "but on six monitors blah, blah, blah" that the writer will never see in person) and it isn't a visual abomination in the case.

So, you have the power draw issue. Then you have the whole "liquid cooling" issue that is completely one-size-fits-none and makes your build look cheap/messy. Then there is the OC potential, oh yeah, and the software/drivers....

    No, rational.

I would take a single one of these over a 295X. 99.9% of the time you would never be able to see the performance difference with the naked eye (on monitor setups I, and most people, am actually using - no "but on six monitors blah, blah, blah" that the writer will never see in person) and it isn't a visual abomination in the case.

you sir ruin jokes. With all that rational back talk!
