Default NZXT Phantom Case With Corsair H70

    Hi All,

Above are 3 photos of my NZXT Phantom case setup with a H70,

I am a little puzzled trying to work out how to utilise the 200/230mm Man slot in the side of the case, has anyone had any success with this?

I cant mount the rear fan of the H70 outside the case due to its design, and obviously cant move the whole rad outside either...

Does anyone have any suggestions other than mounting a 200/230 outside of the side panel?

    Thanks in advance.

the question is do you really need to install the side panel fan?

Your vid card has good cooler already.

If you install the rad outside then you have to cut a big hole to pass through the pump/block.

Here are some options for you to think about it but it's definitely need some modding.

    1) install the rad at 5.25" base with custom bracket
    2) don't use stock side panel fan, mod the side panel to accept two 120mm fans and install them just below the rad so you can close the panel.

    Hope that shred some lights.

Have you thought about modding the side panel so you can add a window instead of the fan ? it would be a nice improvement for the Phantom.

@ Doctor_Death, I might look into that, all other ideas seam to impulsive I guess.

I am still considering going "true" water cooling on this setup, do you think it would be viable to remove the fan slot in order for a window incase I do go watercooling in the future, or will that slot still not really be required?

I would get rid of the 200mm fan mounting if your staying with liquid cooling, but if your switching to air cooling, test the temps first both at idle and underload with the side panel on and report back with your temps

If your thinking about doing the window mod yourself, it looks like the whole 200mm fan panel can be removed by removing the clips that hold in place, once removed you should be able to lay if on the Plexiglass and trace for cutting.

Buy a couple of pieces of Plexiglass in case something goes wrong, this will save you the time of having to run out and buy more. If possible try to make sure the Plexiglass is close to the same thickness and the fan mounting panel, that way you should be able to use the same clips to hold it in place. See the attached photo:
