Default best HTPC case, Silverstone or nMEDIAPC?

    Hello everyone,
I am looking to build an HTPC and I'd like to get nice-looking, fairly "spacious" case. For now, I'm only really interested in figuring out what case I need and I've been looking at Silverstone and nMEDIAPC for various options. They seemed like the market leaders in this area.

I'm not looking to put a whole lot into the case as it won't be doing much in the way of direct gaming. At most it will be streaming a game through steam. So I will not be needing a huge graphics card. The only real upgrade I intend is a decent sound card for 7.1/coaxial output.

The case I've landed on so far is the nMEDIAPC 6000B (HTPC 6000B). It's spacious, offers good ventilation options, and will look good on the shelf with my other systems.
Please weigh-in with your opinions and suggestions,

    Thanks

If you are not stuck on the volume knob, I went through a Lian Li and Silverstone before going to a Fractal Node 605. The Node 605 has excellent cooling and looks perfect with my amp and pre-amp. The one possible downside is that it uses a slim ODD, and an ODD can only be used with ITX or mATX motherboards.

The silver knob on the 6000B is actually just a stylized power button

I like the look of the Node 605, but I was hoping to have an ATX board. I could be swayed though. My main concerns for the board are Ethernet, Bluetooth, USB 3.0, and between 2 & 3 expansion slots.
I could go AMD or Intel with the processor.

node 605 is an atx case, with 30% off you can get it on newegg for only $129.99: Fractal Design Black Aluminum / Steel Node 605 FD-CA-NODE-605-BL ATX Media Center / HTPC Case - Newegg.com
I also like this one (its retro look): nMEDIAPC Red Wood Wood/Steel HTPC 8000 ATX Media Center / HTPC Case - Newegg.com

The M-ITX InWin 901 is a good one too.

The tempered glass sides are classy looking and airflow is good enough for my i5-4670K and a Sapphire R9-280X Tri-Fan Toxic to stay well withing proper temps.
The Sapphire card is extra long and fits inside without any issues.

I really like it. This first pic is with a GTX-680 inside.

In this one I had a Radeon HD-6870 inside of it.

This is just prior to installing the Sapphire 280 Toxic.

Yeah, you're right, but you can always use some nice and slim external OD.

That's a really beautiful build! But it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I prefer the look of the cases that would blend into other media center pieces. I'm not looking to build a show-quality system.

The lack of OD would be a definite drawback. Parenthetically, does anyone know any good low-cost/free software that will work with a blueray OD? I can't get it to work with VLC.

The lack of OD would be a definite drawback. Parenthetically, does anyone know any good low-cost/free software that will work with a blueray OD? I can't get it to work with VLC.

If you are looking to run a media center pc you need an easier to use interface. You can use Windows Media Center or other options such as Plex, Kodi(formerly know as KBMC), or Media portal. Media Center is easy to setup, easy to use but has some limitations. The others allow plug-ins and customization including Bluray playback. If you are looking for a stand-alone solution adding "Libbluray" to VLC should work. It worked in the past for me. Windows 8 media center also works. There are "Other" ways of getting the software you need to play blurays on a pc.

I had not, but only because I didn't see your review! That is quite a case and It doesn't look half bad on the shelf. Excellent review and great suggestion. I can hardly believe the price for that too.
I'm still not a huge fan of mini ITX boards, but that is mostly from a lack of experience working with them. Still, this is a great looking case.
