    Yeah, I knew that.

I'm not out to supercool the thing...just want to make sure I have enough radiator to keep the CPU and GPU comfortably within their rated operating temps, with (perhaps) a mild overclock, and to keep them that way *quietly*.

OK, another day or two of parts arriving in the mail, UPS, FEDEX, Passenger Pigeon, whatever.

I fit the RAM and the M2 drive into their slots, and the SSD's into the back of the motherboard tray.

Sorry about the poor quality photos, but well...Cell Phones...<sigh>

The first is of the 960 EVO sliding into the motherboard NVME slot.

Then, it's all shinied up with the M2 Shield. I wonder who left their fingerprints on there????

And the two 850 Evo's nestled snugly on the back of the motherboard tray.

Today the two Black ICE 280 GTS Rads arrived, along with the Backplate and EK Waterblock for the 1080 FTW...which still hasn't shown it's face around here...

While digging around various tech sites today, I ran into this: https://www.ekwb.com/news/ek-releasi...m-factor-ssds/ those might look good in place of that fingerprint laden M2 Shield...hmmmm

Anyway, while test fitting the first Rad, I discovered some screw size mismatches, so I'm trying to decide whether to drill the holes larger, or install the Rad with the fans on the inside instead of in the normal location at the front of the case...I'm leaning towards drilling the holes larger, because I like the cleaner look of the rad inside the case...more to come on that.

    Thanks Guys,

After posting yesterday's update(s), I decided to go ahead and drill the R5's screw holes out a bit so I could get the Rad and Fans into the configuration I wanted them in. I'm pleased to say it worked, although I need to rework it a little bit. I'll wait until the new fans get here to work that out, but the configuration is workable anyway...

*nothing* came in the mail, UPS, or via magic teleporter today, so for the moment, work is halted...perhaps more will be accomplished this weekend. I'll try to take a photo of the first Rad installation when it gets to be daylight again!

    Another Update.

A fairly cool Amazon box arrived this Friday, containing a host of supplies.

Contained within this Box-O-Treasures are: 6 x Phanteks PH-F140MP PWM High Static Pressure Fans.

A Silverstone 1 to 8 PWM Fan Hub
A Pack of 5 ~6" PWM Fan extension cables (just in case).
    A Monsoon Silver Bullet
And an EVGA Power Link (Which *in theory* should let me route my GPU power cables a little more cleanly).

Unfortunately, the GPU itself, still hasn't shown it's face. For Reference, ordering from Jet.com has not been the best experience. Wal-Mart's recent purchase of this company to compete with Amazon...well, let's just say I'm not going to be canceling my Prime membership anytime soon!

Arriving in the mail as well was this:

Well, two of them actually. Made by V1Tech, these are black and silver acrylic "SSD-Covers". I chose an MSI dragon since this is an MSI based machine, and I fit both of them today. Sadly, they are almost impossible to take decent photos of (because of the silver reflectivity) using my Cell, and I haven't broken out the big camera as of yet.

I think it looks pretty good, and both installed look slick.

I was able to re-install the front rad with the new Phanteks fans, and installed the top rad as well. Still not 100% on the upper Rads position, but so far, I seem to have plenty of space. Photos of that soon.

Thanks Vinnie. I haven't ordered them yet, they're still sitting in my Amazon shopping cart. Hemming and Hawing in the Pump/Res combo still. AND, I want to get my GPU before I blow any more money...lol

Sorry, there have been no updates for awhile. Summer has overwhelmed the household, and thee has simply been no down time for playing with the build.

However, I managed to snag my EVGA 1080 GTX FTW last week, and the NVMe SSD covers from EK have arrived as well. Still haven't ordered the Pump/Res and Fittings, but will do so soon. Can't wait to get this thing up and running!

I need to test the FTW, (I picked it up as an Open Box @ Microcenter). I also need to zip over to Vinnie's thread and see the latest photos, and see how he implemented his drain tube....

    Thanks Vinnie!

I'd appreciate a gander through your Res's! Vtech just shipped my PSU Cover, which should help me determine if I'm going to mount the res horizontally on the PSU cover, or vertically on the back of the front Rad....I'm starting to get itchy to get this thing up and running...almost pulled the trigger on another 32G of RAM this morning just because I thought those two sticks in there now look a little lonely...lol, I better start getting ti assembled or I'll keep spending...

I would hesitate mounting anything on the shroud it may crack the acrylic and you would be hating life
the acrylic is brittle and cracks easy. So handle with care

Hmmm....good point. I've been rethinking that a lot anyway, as it would make removing the cover and fiddling with PSU cables a royal PITA. Also the horizontal tank would seem to be a potential issue with air bubbles...so...looks like a mounting kit to put it on the back of the second rad.

    Thanks!
