    Default obsidian

There has been some talk about a case called obsidian recently....I thought that with the high number of canucks here the price @$229 cad with a mail in rebate too making $199 instead of the regular $309 was worth a mention for anyone looking Valid til 28th January

    http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...r&promoid=1084

EDIT: is this the one people have been talking about???

They have a great deal for US customers too, but the shipping kills the deal.

The main question I have about this case is about the cooling of the HDD's. I know that the air from the fans cooling the HDD's is supposed to be exhausted behind the motherboard tray, but wouldn't the airflow get blocked by the wiring back there? It doesn't look like there would be enough room back there for proper ventilation to me.

Grumpy- thats one hell of a price for the Canadian market 116 equiv.I,ve been monitoring prices over here in Uk and just this week I,ve seen an add for the obsidian go below 200 for the first time ,and thats now with our dreaded vat going up !-mssrs Micro -Direct
The best I,ve seen previously is Ebuyer,s price of 204 with free delivery and their prices seem to rise up and down on a whim.
Before buying one I feel some- one needs to come out and say This is a w/c case and it is not designed for us air enthusiasts out there.
Reviews make an issue of poor cooling performance inside the main mobo bay with reviewers having to reverse the exhaust fan and fitting 2&3 120,s in the roof to sort the high temps out not an ideal set up for a two hundred quid case I don,t think .
My money still in my wallet at present eagerly waiting for Dr Death,s review

It's a damned shame that to get stuff here from there costs so much and then our friend from the revenue (well mr customs and excise) gets involved and the best of deals is borked.

Yes ,we seem to get stuffed every time in every way possible on hardware prices.
In my late 20,s I managed a number of photographic shops here in the north-west and even then 30 yrs ago "grey importing" from the states was rife, but it did mean you could buy cheaper camera gear albeit without a UK warranty.
I really don,t know why some-one doesn,t do this again with pc gear
I do get really upset when I see USA prices and they used to be 1=$1
ie USA =largest market - what will it sell for or more realistically what can we get for it there-oh we can get 200 dollars for that- sell in the UK 200 ethically isn,t that just not right.
It,s always been a sore subject of mine -should have moved to America years ago!!

The cost of shipping for the items to earn the 2500 points is probably not worth it in the long run. I am going to head over there and check it out for the future.

    Thanks for the info
