i'd just make sure you get 2 controllers if it's gonna be you playin your son. i haven't played on a wii, so i don't know how it all works.

i have owned a snes, n64, gamecube and nintendo games are great for all ages. mario kart, super smash bros, super mario are all great games.

this makes me want to get a wii lol

I have a Wii the kids love it, how old is your son? The Wii comes with one remote and nun chuck already so if you want to play with him you will need one more. It also comes with Wii sports which is ok depending on his age.

Mario bros for Wii is good also has multi-player, the new Mario galaxy is good too. depends on how old your son is, I've played through the legend of Zelda twilight princess its also worth the dollars.
you can also buy older-games from the Wiistore through your Wii such as Mario3 from SNES and Orcarina of Time from N64.

For multi-player buy an extra wiimote, I think its $40 or so. a nun-chuck wont be needed for most games unless your gonna get Super Smash Bros, then you will need an extra nun-chuck

Mario cart is always good party racing. However old your son is most games for the Wii are for all ages.

you can connect your Wii to your wireless LAN quite easily through the settings.

also if you have a Bluetooth dongle on your computer you can connect your wiimote to your pc then map the keys using the program Glovepie and use the wiimote as a steering wheel, controller, remote, w/e. I do this all the time.

Although if you want some CODMW2 and to be-able to stream media to your TV through the console I'd suggest a Xbox360 or PS3.

to sum it up blah blah Mario Wii, CodMW2 Xbox.
