    Default New to water cooling.

Hello everyone, I have been around with building computers but I really have been wanting to experiment with water cooling. Another reason that from looking at the crazy computer modifications done with water cooling I get nerded out and it just eats me away that my computer is just air cooled and always getting dust everywhere(mainly only on the fan grills). I would love any advice and resources that you guys know about and I look forward to participating on forum( if time from school allows).

Welcome to pureoc, and quite a fitting screen name considering you want to get H2O cooling. Deton is the guy you will want to speak with so hang tight until he arrives.

    @ Plaguebringer; welcome to PUREOC!

Before we get into 101 water cooling consultation session I need to know a few thing about your purpose and reason. Please answer the below evaluvation questions.

    1) Is your computer overheating?
    2) Are looking to maximize the overclocking?
    3) Looking for quiter computer?
    4) Is water cooling good looking?
    5) Are you a risk taker?
    6) Do you income resources?

BTW, I do heard one of your reason (dust) but that is good enough because you do use fans with water cooling, perhaps even use more fan than air cooling.

Evening Deton, sorry for my late reply, had grocery shopping after work.
1)My system is not overheating at this moment I just have everything on stock speed.
2)I wish to test what my system can do and learn from overclocking it.(failed attempt once)
3)At this time the new system makes more noise than the previous build. So I am curious if having a water cooled system would be much quieter than having just fans.
4)Well initially I love the the cool things that people post pics of, I see them as engineering marvels and it sparks my love for technology
5)With the guidance from you guys I'd take a risk.
6)I recently took out a school loan for stuff like this, because my previous build went dead on me on early August from the heat. I also work part time so on a monthly basis i get around 800-900 something.

@Apeman= I currently play on Ner'zhul alliance and horde

    Thank you again Deton.

    Here's your reassement;
    1) NO - it's not necessary to go with water cooling, good high-end air cooler will sufficient.
    2) YES - water cooling if help to maximize the protential overclocking and stability, long live components.
    3) YES - water cooling can be noisy if you go to the extreme with multiple radiator and fans, the number installed fan can be tripple than air cooler = more noise. To control the noise you have to use fan controller. More components will add up the total cost.
    4) YES - liquid don't mix with electronic components, mishaps does happent sometime, so be prepare for the worst. But if you becareful then you can prevent the disaster. The common fire components are PSU and VGA.
    5) YES - see #4, you have to take risk when you do deal with water cooling
    6) YES - good, because "do-it-yourself" water cooling setup can be very costy and a desease. The other watercooling memebers here can tell you that.

    Ok, next step:

    1) what are you plan to watercooling; CPU, GPU, MOBO, RAM....etc? the more detail the better
    2) Do you a budget for this WC build?

1)I wanted to water cool the CPU, Ive never knew that RAM can be water cooled, those 2 are under warranty from Fry's but the GPU isn't so id wait till I am more confident to move on to water cooling the video card. And oh yea forgot that the mobo is under warranty too so I might give that a try. I wanted to get a bigger case, because I like to have my space and adding more stuff to the case I have already is beginning to be a pain.
    2)At this time I can budget 500 for a kit/parts

$500 budget is minimum for start up DIY but I will show you to get a kit for less.

When you deal with water cooling, a good big case play a big part in the setup.
Midsize case is where hard to work with, they doable but only good when you only want to cool one component such as a CPU.

Ok, so you are not 100% risk taker. I want you to aware of this. As soon you remove motherboard heatsink or graphics card cooler the warranty is voided. Some manufactures allows you to change the cooler but as soon there's a evidence of liquid that fired the part then warranty is meaning less.

have you take a look at this guide?
Basic Water Cooling Guide for Beginners

according to your #4 answer, you prefer DIY setup than all-in-one kit, right?
