I knew that you would be doing whatever you could to get these chips ASAP and do your own reviews on them. It's good to see that it's working out now.

I'd like to see reviews done with as many cooling solutions as you have the time for. High end solutions as well as low end too. (no, I'm not trying to tell you what to do or how to do it)

What does a low cost cooling solution do to mitigate this CPU's heat at stock, and then at higers settings?
If you connect an H60 or a H100 to it, how high can you clock to and still keep it running at safe temps?

What is the benefit of that new Quad channel memory? How much difference does it make when you run 2133MHz speed RAM as opposed to 1600MHz speed?

How wide is the usable bandwidth on the design's PCI-E 3.0 bus? Can you put more devices on this than PCI-E 2.0 and have them ~not~ be bottlenecked?

Yeah, I'm waiting for YOUR (PureOC's) look at this platform.

The 3930 runs cooler than the 3960X when OCed to 5GHz but still run warmer than a 2500K or 2700K,
so maybe the Boreas would be the best cooling option, any one want to comment on this ? The 2nd chip should arrive Friday, and will be shipped to our new motherboard reviewer, so Pure OC should start publishing X79 reviews soon.

I believe Gigabyte shipped their new X79 Assassin out yesterday, they flashed the board to the latest bios before shipping, I'm also trying my best to get the ASUS X79 Rampage 4 Extreme for review, which will give us a total of five X79 boards to review.
Who is your new Motherboard reviewer? or do you mean jim is still a newbie. LOL

I don't want to throw it at your face by saying "I told you so" but whoever told you that metal (copper, brass or silver) top will yield 1-2c performance gain is ignoring and full of craps.

The most important of the block is the base design, its flow and pure material uses, poor quality copper will retard the thermal performance.

I gotta to tell you this; you will still be disappointed with the Kryos block as well. Because CPU block has reached its maximum performance potential, all King-of-the-Hill blocks perform withing 0.5-1c. Now manufacturers concentrate on its features, functionality and value.

I don't know for the next 2 years will be any CPU block is going to beat the current best blocks by 2-3c or not?

Your right! now they will be focusing on the rest of a WCS, better radiators, pumps and reservoirs, to help their blocks perform better.

    Congrats on this!
It's really nice of them to provide the samples after they said that they couldn't do it this time. This says a lot about what they think of you and your site.
I was wondering how that Intel LCS cooler stacked up against others already on the market. Maybe now we'll see.

Default Re: Watercooling Results (Opinions and Comparisons please!)

Got a new Koolance now and Idle Delta´s are in 5-6C
The microphins were screwed up with the last one.

I am opening a new thread in the CPU area though, will probably get a new x58 cpu upgrade.

Thinking about the i7 980 it is much cheaper than the Xtreme version, and actually is only inferior due to not having an unlockable CPU multi and lower QPI speed.

I believe the extreme version are no longer available since they have the 990x, the 980 is now locked multi.
