    Welcome to PureOC

I don't really keep up with what's good on the AMD front. But by having a quick browse i'd probably get the Arctic cooling Alpine 64. If you don't game, and don't plan on overclocking it looks like a nice little upgrade from the stock cooler.

    Here's some reviews: Frosty-Tech - ProOverclockers - rbmods.com

All of the reviewers agree that it is very quiet and a good upgrade option for non-overclockers.

    Hope that helps

Yes, the Arctic cooling CPU coolers are nice and quiet but I personally own the PRO version and its great, but its a little more expensive than the Alpine version but you can see it ----> Here <--------

I think the paste already on it is, or is really close to Arctic 5, but i personally used arctic 5 because i had some laying around.

It doesnt matter which IDE slot you choose, and if you havent disabled IDE in the BIOS i think you will be fine

    Default Zalman fan mate 2

I just installed a Zalman 9500 AM2 cpu cooler it worked fine but when I connected the fan mate 2, I got two beebs and a error message saying American megatrends press F1 to continue so I Did and it went on to window desktop, it was working ok without the fan, I disconnected the fan again and connected it up as normal no problem, do I have to go into the bios to disable the fan detector to get fan cotroller to work, and what heading would it come under
