So I'm the recent big winner of the XSPC Rasa 750 RS360! (Big thanks again to PureOC and XSPC!) I've gone from first time builder to water cooling owner in a matter of a 3 months. This is my first water cooling kit, on my first build, and I want to make sure I do it right. I was hoping with this awesome community I've come to love, I could receive a bit of help on some questions. I understand that water cooling isn't something you can normally do with a budget, but I really want to make this work without my wife scalping me for spending too much (especially since I just blew 320+ USD on a couple of monitors a few days ago).
First off, if I've got a 360 radiator, can I cool my 2500K (Currently @4.4Ghz, restricted by voltage =/ ) and two EVGA670 FTW in SLI on one loop?
Based on eXtreme Outer Vision - eXtreme tools for computer enthusiasts , I have a power draw of 389 - 439W. I don't currently own a 2nd 670FTW, but if I'm getting a water cooling loop, I might as well go all out, right? That leads me to my second question: How difficult would it be to add in a 2nd 670 with water cooling later into the loop? Would it be more beneficial for me to do the water loop now and add in the 2nd card later or wait until I have both before setting up the loop?
Another problem I have is that my "NZXT Phantom 410 (Black) ATX Mid Tower" can't hold the radiator... So I either have to use the brackets in the kit to mount it behind my case, or buy a new case that can fit the radiator. For aesthetic reasons, I prefer it to be inside a case; however, I'm on a budget lightly guided by my wife... Can you guys suggest a few cases that fit a triple radiator under 160 USD? The lower the price, the better.
Here is the water block I'm considering for the 670 FTW (since it uses a 680 reference board) when they're in stock again. Question is, what other components/fittings/bridges would I need to add this to the loop for an SLI setup? What would you recommend to a budget builder?
This is a similar kit with the same radiator/cpu block/pump.
My last couple of questions for water cooling... I'm sticking to a Blue LED theme on black regardless on the case I get, what kind of fluid would you recommend? Also, based on this list, what other components would I need to complete the loop?
I also have some general questions not based solely on water cooling:
I know this is a lot to answer in one setting, but I would really appreciate any help I could get. Thanks!
- How big of a difference is there between PCI-E 2.0 and 3.0? I bought a Z68 board unknowing of the difference between it and Z77. Just wanted to know if it would be worth it to upgrade.
- Does anyone have some benchmarks of their OC SLI 670's? I want to see how big of an upgrade I will see down the road.
- Would it be more beneficial for me to trade for a 7970 for overclocking? I feel like the water cooling will not be utilized as much in terms of bringing out my maximum overclock on the 670, as temperatures aren't a problem, it will mostly just reduce noise. Where could I make a trade like that?
