Yea, its a tough call when the GPU isn't listed, but he tried and gave it a shot.
He asked me the same question since I tested the G10, but since I didn't have a 400 series card laying around there was now way for me to confirm.
So it was a risk that he took.. But the holes on the mounting unit can't be modified since they are already sitting really close to the edge,

Sorry.I already have his card back in his rig.
The screw's go in at a bit of a angle. So wen you tighten down the top screw's it bend's the psb. I think if the holes wer a bit bigger.Or #4 slot's instead of #3 it would have worked.The screw's went inword towrd the center.

pull out Dremel and mod the holddown bracket, just cut the screw slot few mm bigger.

Tony, it doesn't need to go bigger, it needs to go smaller which won't be possible since its already the hole are already at the edge of the bracket.
Looks like the 400 series cards had smaller spacing.
