Default Looking for advice on cooling solution

Here's the deal. I'm looking to have around $100 to spend (not cash, otherwise I'd save it) for some work I'm doing. I want to upgrade to liquid cooling and if I could, I would go with a custom loop but from what I generally see, I would have to plan around $300 to do that. So for starters, I was going to go with an AIO. I saw a review on AnandTech that basically showed every 240/280mm aio being within a couple degrees of each other, even at high wattages. The cooler they didn't have I wanted to see though was the Cooler Master Glacer 240l. I currently have a Noctua Nh-u14s air cooler.

Which aio would you guys get if any. Corsair h100i has good software, h105 has great user reviews on newegg which surprises me because that usually doesn't happen for AIOs. The h110 does have the larger rad, but if I got a Glacer, I can replace the two CM fans with Cougars I already have negating the noise issue. Those are the choices I narrowed down so let me know what you guys would think is best. I'm mainly looking for performance, but I've also learned that if the difference is only a couple degrees, it won't change my overclock and I might as well go with silence/quality/features etc after that.

We have done some real good review's on Aio's. I myself have instaled #4 of them so far.I like the Corsair H100i. I would reed the review on it and see what you think.

I have done the comparisons on the Glacer 240L to all of the aforementioned myself. It's a no contest - none of them touch the Glacer in terms of performance excepting the NZXT X60 which can just about match it. Obviously, the Glacer is also open loop and you can use it to start a custom loop, also. The pump is a higher performer than you probably imagine.

As far as the fans, the Blademasters happen to be a very good fan on this rad. Do they get loud on the upper end? Yes, they absolutely do. But...and this is a big one....setting up your fan curve to cap them around 60% leaves you just about silent, and still gives you better performance than an H100i screaming along at 60+ dB. This leaves you with more cooling power in the tank should you choose to use it, whereas changing out to the Cougars limits your overall performance (but saves you the three minutes it takes to set up the fan curve).

With the performance and expandability differences, the choice is pretty obvious.

Interesting. That was the info I was looking for because I've read all the reviews (Especially ours on the H100i which I love, and the Glacer 240 which only compared to a custom loop) and I was still having trouble deciding. So basically, you think the Glacer can actually get me more headroom on my cpu vs the other AIOs?

Btw, what's up with all these users saying glacer pump catches on fire? Is that a faulty issue Cooler Master has already addressed?

The Glacier give you, (the user) a much better expandability option. The pump along with the rad set up IMO, is far better then any Closed Loop AIO.
The H100i is good, but def. has its draw backs.

Plus, for the price of the glacier, you really get a lot out of it.
Like George said, you can adjust the fan curve to meet your needs, but at the end of the day, if you need to change the fans to suite your needs its still a good option.

Actually, I don't think that. I know that the 240L has significantly better cooling performance than any CLC on the market excepting the X60. And the direct comparisons are out there, even including noise levels and a direct comparison of the 240L at 60% to the H100i at max. I can say no more without Sandy slapping me......

The burning pump problem was caused by the pump being run at lower than recommended speeds. The issue was addressed and rectified.

From what I have heard, the issue was address with a Rev.2 of the kit a few months back.
But don't quote me on it.

I think you all answered my questions. Now the only question is will Cooler Master hurry it up already and release the 360l? I'd just buy that one!

Well, that was fast but I just got it ordered. 3 day shipping! I should be receiving my Glacer next week!
I'll start a new thread on the "I just got" section with some comparisons to the nh-u14s I have once I get it.

I can tell you from experience dont go anywhere near the H220 or H320 by swiftech. As of right now the service is absolutely horrid.

So after my motherboard debacle, I finally got to get my glacer tested out on my new Extreme9 mobo and my overclock set. My 8350 is now at 4.7ghz, my vcore averages about 1.525v on 100% load and my max spike was 63c but my average stays around 54-55 on full load. 44-45 on gaming load. Super impressed my glacer can keep the chip temp under control at that voltage. Highest vcore spike I saw was 1.56v. Couldn't stabilize 4.8 without increasing voltage and I felt it was high enough as it is. If I had a better chip, I'm sure that voltage could have lent me to 4.8 to 5 ghz easily but hey, luck of the draw. 4.7 isn't too bad.

I should mention that while I had a 4.5 ghz on my noctua, my vcore only went up to 1.45v max. I've NEVER seen such a huge performance increase on any of my previous upgrades. I'm super impressed with the glacer and wouldn't recommend anything less now for overclocking.
