    Default Phanteks or Dark Rock?

With Black Friday a month away and an ever decreasing wish list (disability doesn't leave much room for "hobbies"), I've decided to go with air cooling over an AIO. I figured if I am going to play in the water, it might as well be done properly with a custom loop. After reading the review for the Dark Rock 3, I watched the video and saw the Dark Rock Pro 3. Memory clearance won't be a problem, so, I compared that to the Phanteks PH-TC14PE. In terms of performance they're pretty much even. In terms of cost, is nearly equal as well. However, the easiest to purchase is the Phanteks as it is available from newegg and with their will call office, shipping is negated. The Dark Rock is only available from three places, Amazon, NCIXUS, and Performance PC's. The lowest shipping is $11. The Dark Rock just plain looks better and fills the I WANT THAT! side of my brain, but the Phanteks fills the need side. HELP!

mmmmmm, that is a kind of tough call... but I'd go for the Dark Rock. I will sacrifice a bit of cooling performance for the sake of absolute silence and super sexy looks.

To bad that I no longer have the DarkRock Pro 3
I would have let you have that for a very low price, how much overclocking are you planning to do or how high of an overclock are you planning on running.
the reason Im asking is I can let you have the DarkRock 3 190W TDP for half the price if that one would fit your needs
I have no use for it and your close enough to were you can pick it up from me if you like.
    PM me if your interested

Well It is hard for me to pick without knowing what the rest of your build looks like. Color scheme and such. The Dark Rock Pro 3 looks and performs great. Nearly silent because the fans are amazing. Phanteks has that big beefy look with any color fans you want. If your build is based on bright colors I would go with the Phanteks to match but I think the DPR3 is better overall.

The Phanteks is a slightly better performer, but the DRP3 is much more refined looking and much quieter. The difference in performance is very, very slight - I got ~4 degrees difference under stress tests on an OC'd 4770K, which is nothing when you are 20+ degrees in the safety zone.

Thanks for the offer, it's greatly appreciated. As for overclocking, when I got my FX4300, I ran AMD's Overdrive evaluation for cpu's and it said I could go as high as 4.8 gigs. An evaluation is one thing, getting there safely is another. I'm at 4.1 now and everything's fine. I'm know I could go a little higher with what I have, but, if I'm going to make the trip, I want to be ready for it.

Well, except for the memory which is yellow,(never wait for Cyber Monday for pc parts), everything is black. Eventually, I'll get the Phanteks Luxe in white, some HyperX Fury DDR3 1866 in black and call it the "Black Hole".
