    Default Most Bad-ass Air Coolers?

We all know if you want to go full-bore with maximum cooling for high over-clocks you go with custom liquid cooling loops. However, modern air coolers have reached pretty impressive levels of performance, especially if you're using a day-to-day OC instead of trying to post best benchmarks. So, that lead me to asking...

What is the most bad-ass air cooler you would recommend? ...and since I know the first response will be, "It depends on what you mean by that." I would like to explore it in several ways.
A ) What's the most powerful you've used/tested? What can handle the most thermal load with size and price being no object.
B ) What is your favorite? What gets a high score from you for performance, cost, reliability, just overall "I wouldn't hesitate for a second to use it for just about anything."
C ) Looks. You can't forget looks. What are some simply beautiful or unique or "Oh my god, I think it's going to eat my motherboard" kind of awesome?

    ...and GO!

Yeah, my first thought was the original Pure Rock, but I forgot how sweet the Dark Rock looks. The Dark Rock actually matches the finish of the case I recently won in a giveaway. I'm REALLY tempted to get one of those now.

So, can anyone top that? More extreme cooling? More extreme looks? Bigger? Badder? lol

Years ago I've used Noctua NH-D14 with 3 fans for my i7 950, in that time none AIO WC could even compare with it.

it was look like this in my PC, my mobo was impossible to see:

    Well, you did ask.......
My 550 ti Amp! card getting blasted by this one and I have more than one to use if I want.

Nowadays finding a good CPU cooler is a task of weeding out opinions over actual performance, however the Noctua fan is very good.

I personally have a Scythe Susanoo that's simply great for what it is, however good luck finding one and it can be a pain to mount up but once it's there, it can handle about anything you can throw at it.

The Scythe Grand Kama Cross 2is another good cooler...... If you have room for it.

The Zalman CNPS9500AT is good for the money and they do have a decent rep for what they make.

To sum up - It's a matter of what you have and how much you're willing to spend.

WOW! I had never seen that one before. That's DEFINITELY one for the looks category. If it's as powerful as it is unique then it could possibly be one of my new faves.

all in all count the heat pipes the more heat pipes the better, but you will never do much better then ambient temps
    with any of them.

Vinman is right, what it will affect is how much heat it can handle and vent to atmosphere.
Speaking of heatpipe count my Susanoo has a total of 12 pipes and 4 100mm fans so it can handle alot of heat load. The Karma itself should be sufficient for most anything out there as well.

Well, I tested the MSI Core Frozr L which is right now my favourite CPU cooler, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Turbo LED, Cooler master hyper 103 and currently preparing to test some more. I just swapped out my master liquid 240 for MSI and it looks gorgeous. Never had hands-on Noctua NH-D15 or something like that but my friend has DeepCool Assassin II through which he gets max temp like 41C on FX 8320.

Noctua has about the best reputation for being the top performer and they have a D15 out as well.

    CoolerMaster Air Maker 8

I'm using this one on my daily driver. (an i7-6850K six-core)
It works well, looks great and I won mine in a contest, so it was free!!
Here is an older Pic of it installed. There is a pair of GTX-1080FEs in there now.

Same here, won my Tt OCK Frio some years ago in a benching comp hosted on another site.
In the end it was me and Sofos1990 and he edged me out right at the end - He even admitted if I'd had better RAM at the time I would have taken the win.

Can't say that now, These days he'd cold smoke my azz and be done with it.
