    Default Heatsink Question

    Can anyone tell me if a Socket 1366 Stock intel heatsink will fit a Socket 775 motherboard?

    I dun think so, it's diff socket and bracket/clip on is bigger for 1366 than on 775.

    Nope it wont fit. But you can use the 775 cooler on some X58 i7 mobos like the Asus P6T non deluxe and all the Foxconn Bloodrage and Flaming Blade mobos except the Renaissance

    some 775 may work on certian 1366. i could use a 775 cooler on my p6t.

    Depends on what heatsink, with some you can just buy or build a new bracket to get it to work on a different socket.

    No a stock 1366 H/S will not fot a 775 mobo.But yes some after markets heatsinks fit multiple boards including the AM2 775 and 1366

    Well the Cooler Master V8 is 775 and it works on 1366 with the proper bracket.

    That is true. Many heatsinks come with a bracket that allows Core i7/Socket 1366 mounting. But in response to the original question, 775 coolers don't fit onto 1366 since the holes do not line up. But with different mounting brackets from manufacturers then it's possible to mount a 3rd party cooler. Subtle but important difference.
