    Default One step below noob

OK, I just started. I am not sure which is the worst lack of knowledge or confusion. Any way I'll ask a question and post some clips. I got the rig running at 3.6+ by adjusting the bclk. This caused my dram to not have correct values so I set them as close to spec as possible (1600). My question is what should I be tweeking to keep my ram straight. This is only a 9% OC and everything seems to function fine. Running prime95 for 10 mins seemed to let the core temps level out at 50c. I have run this for two days no problem. I am not a gamer though.

I guess I can't upload attachments. not allowed?

First of all; welcome to PUREOC!

Second, your images must be host on a server to allow you to use the image attachment feature. You can use Imageshack or photobucket, free servers.

Third, providing your system specs when you seeking answers. This will help us to understand what kind of the hardware you have, so we dont have ask you ton of question about your system specs before we can answer your questions.

Lastly, you only can run your RAM at 1600Mhz when your Bclk set at 200.

    Well done.
See you are that noob afer all, to upload images just copy the photobucket IMG code and paste into the message that is, easy as 1-2-3.

Get back to your question, as I said the only way to run your RAM at 1600Mhz is to set Bclk at 200 and if you CPU cooler can handle 4Ghz then do it, and if it is not then lower the CPU multiplier to bring the CPU clock down below 4Ghz, perhaps 3.6 - 3.8Ghz if you perfer.

Why not overclock by the CPU multiplier? That'll make it so you don't have to adjust RAM.

    Default Ram and Multiplier

I have been tweaking the bclk. I think it's at 145 right now. That means I selected 1745 for my mem, because 1600 was no longer an option. To me that means I have OC'd the ram. Is this OK for the ram or do I need to get it changed? The clips I posted are with these settings. Thanks to you people for bearing with me.

Kipper I too am and old biker. I chopped one one time and the peanut tank had my sig painted on it.

I forgot you have 980x, it has different mem controller and multiplier.
It is ok to overclock your ram as long it's stable.

    Default Ram

OK Deton that was what I was looking for. I don't want to fry my ram. I've got several six-packs tied up in it.

I am going to run a ram test just to check it out. Then I'll ease the settings up a little more. I think I need to turn stepping off for awhile cause when I am looking at Everest it keeps shifting gears.
