Default Complete noob needs help with Alienware comp!

If anyone could please help me out, I am very new to the OC scene! I would like to overclock to about 3.66GHz because I have seen a lot of posts on internet from people with comps close to my set up saying it was very stable. If you could give me a step by step it would greatly help. If this goes well, will be starting a thread in the video card section for help with that.

p.s. I tried to be as complete as possible with my system info, but Alienware makes it very difficult to get, if you need more information please include a suggestion as to how to go about getting it.

Thank you very much in advance.

ok, did quite a bit of reading and have overclocked to my goal of 3.66GHz. The question I have now is, "should I lower my Vcore or IOH, to lower my voltage going to cpu"?

Am I thinking along the right lines???

Seeing you have a pre built, you may not be able to overclock but we shall soon see with your system specs....

    Welcome to PureOC!!

To answer your question, it entirely depends if your BIOS is locked down or not.

    1. can you get into your BIOS?
    2. can you change things like bus speed, memory speed, etc?

If "no" to either, then you're pretty much screwed. If "yes" to both, then you should be fine and we can help you OC your rig.
