Default Phenom II X6 1055T OC

ok guys I am having nothing but trouble attemting to overclock my new CPU I have never really attempted to OC a processor through the bios before now. This is my 3rd build however my 1st big build. I watched a Youtube Vid on how to do this particular CPU and an ASUS mobo together and all seemed peachy and showed my target core clock to be 4058, saved bios and rebooted bios. checked core clock in cpu status and it read 4058(it was pretty close to this number). booted win 7 and attempted prime95 and blue screened didn't think much of it and lowered the stress rest a bit. blue'd again. booted up again checked CPU temps all were fine around 32 degrees. went to OS and ran CPU-Z and found my core clock initially said 4.0 but then dropped to 2.1 so I rebooted went to bios and lowered my muti to 13.5 which targeted 3.8 booted ran prime95 no errors then ran CPU-Z said 3.8 then dropped to 1.6. rebooted reverted back to stock CPU settings and started up again this time went straight to CPU-Z and it said 800mhz WTH!!!!!!!!!

I oviously have no clue what I am doing and really need help. I am a NEWB so lamens terms please. Thanks alot guys

Ok no problem, first thing your going to need to do is disable all the power saving features in the BIOS

    AMD Cool&Quiet / C1E / OC Stepping / AMD Turbo core / any OC gienie(MSi) or like / OC dial function(MSi) / Spread Spectrum

Once you go through and do that we can start

Ok good, leave everything on Auto, switch to manual OC and just adjust the FSB so your core clock goes up by 200mhz at a time, now I found that for me a multi of 13.5 worked much better than 14 but we can look at that latter. so to hit 3ghz you should be @ 217X14 f10 and save reboot, I like to use LinX to stress test 20 runs 25000 problems, see if you pass keep going up by 200mhz until you fail the stress test, then back down to your last stable settings and save it.

Then let us know how far you got with stock settings.

Yeah should be around 40 mins a run but it is essential to see what the board and chip can do.

ok ran stess tests and ran fine ant 3.4ghz=244X14. when i jumped to 3.6ghz=258X14 and hit F10 instead of just restarting like normal(all lights stay on like in hibernation) the PC completely shut down for about 2 seconds then booted, ran CPU-Z and had the same prob as before only reading 2.1ghz. reverted down to 3.57ghz and pc did not shut down this time ran CPU-Z and it is correct this time, ran LYNX and passed through.

In the last one, that happens because some power saving feature is still enabled. Go through and make sure there all disabled.
