Red face List of BIOS Info and Settings readout help

    Hello People of Pure OC,

This is my first posting here Id firstly like to thank you for letting me join and for the wealth of information that I have found and have been reading the past few days.

I have A i7-950 on a Asus P6X58D-E, love the system, a friend helpped me a year ago to try and get the ram running at 1600 mhz, but we were only able to get it going to 1202mhz and the cpu OC to 3.45 ( on stock cooling ) Had major problems with not getting the ram going basically everthing is on auto we did change the bblck and one or two other settings, system has been running stable no BSOD at all, but i want to get it up there to what it can handle stable for gaming. I have a low end graphics card atm, Have a hd 6970 on order. Power supply is most likely going to need to be changed soon to cope.

Yesterday I have just installed a CoolerMaster V8 CPU Cooler.

Several Questions I hope someone can help me out with, I have a rough idea of what I am doing, but some terminology / correct names of certain features go straight on past me.

1, I have seen here people have posted there bios settings, as in basically what it looks like in bois but typed out not a picture. Is there a program that will suck that information out of bios or is it a manual type in bios template document?
    Asus Bios Version 0405

2, With the V8 now on my system roughly (I know theres alot of variants temps ambient, loacation hardware etc) Will I be able to get this closer to 3.8-maybe touch higher on air. Am in New Zealand, room temps around 21-24 degrees.

2a, I would Like to get my Ram G-SKILL 1600mhz tripple channel running at its 1600, instead of its 1202 that its currently set at

3, If this is the wrong thread to be asking help in, I appologise.

    Thank you in advance

    Vavs

    Vavs to PUREOC!

You should take a look at the 4Ghz club, it has a lot of information you need.

    1) if you don't want to manually type out the BIOS then use a digital camera but if you type out the settings it will help you to help you quicker.
You will see what I'm talking about when I have a chance to look at your BIOS post.

2, 2a)V8 might be able to handle 3.8Ghz but I don't think it can handle at 4Ghz?
To get your RAM to run at 1600Mhz, you need to run your Bclk at 200Mhz, because the RAM multi tied with Blck. Ram Mhz increase or decrease accordingly to the Bclk speed.

    3) don't be, you're in the right place.

    Hey Denton, Thanks

Is the second post I posted enough of the bios settings? as thats what I have typed out, is that all the info thats needed or have i missed a page

I have only just purchased the V8 as long as I can get the Ram running to the 1600mhz thats fine with what ever OC of the CPU will be, as long as the v8 will handle it. Higher the better of course to help with gaminmg etc, Ive read through your 4gig forum and its nice im dissapointed I didnt find this site last week when I was looking at coolers.

As I said you need to have the Blck at 200 and you 950 has 23x multi which it will run at 23x200=4600Ghz. It's way way out of V8 cooling capacity. Noctua NH-D14 is one of the best air cooler can handle Bloomfiled at 4Ghz.

Here is 3 options you can chose.

    1) you can try 4Ghz to see how the V8 performs
    2) run your ram close to its specs
    3) run ram at 1600Mhz but CPU below 4Ghz (example: 19x200=3.8Ghz)

the mobo is cable to OC it for you up to 3.8Ghz but everything above this you have to manually input the voltages.

First I think you test you V8 to see how high it can handle the overclock then you know the limit to push. Because poor cooler causes your OC to unstable.

    Hi,
Theres NO WAY this cooler will be able to cope with CPU at 4gig, @ 3.8 it hit 90 degrees under a minute using core temp, ts boots fine but as soon as i started Prime95 up she went.
if I turn on the XMP it will run ram @ 1600 and the CPU under stock speed.

yes you can use XMP to run mem at 1600Mhz but you can really OC your CPU because the cooler is holding you back.

it's better to have higher CPU clock than high mem speed. However, it's only 45Mhz different, can't justify the heat since you have not so good of a cooler then run the CPU at stock.

3.6Ghz and 60°C is not bad, but now run Prime95 for couple hours and monitor the temps, if it's stay under 70s then you are good.
However, you still have to run P95 for 8hrs straight to declare stable.

shes running at 75-78 degrees C,
thats only after 5 minutes of running prime, ive contacted my suppliers and they will exchange the V8 for the Coolermaster H80. going to cost a little bit more but alls good there, just have to wait 2 weeks for it to arrive theres none in the country atm >.<

I have the CoolerMaster Scout case, where would be the best position to place the radiator, on the top of the case in the roof 120mm roof vent or on the back panel, any ideas on that?
