You should notice a nice improvement. Depending on the board you use, the 8350 should overclock to 5GHz and you can run it 24/7 at 4.6GHz.

Your trying to compare a 4 core chip to an 8 core chip, so if your trying to decide if you should upgrade, the answer is yes. Did you read our FX-8350 review ?

If you are talking in terms of gaming, there is no real diff. While it the 8350 bench higher, its more for future proofing your system and allowing apps that will take advantage of multi threads. The 8350 is a great CPU.. while gaming wise 4 cores is good the extra cores will boast a slight increase in FPS.. but your GPU will be the bigger factor.

In video Encoding you will see a big improvement as those apps will take advantage of all the cores available. Also Photo editing or graphical designing apps. One of the great things is that your 990FX board will work with the 8350 with a simple bios update. So make sure to update your bios prior to changing out your chip.

The 8350 is a great OCing chip as well. Easily hits 5ghz without problems.

When I had my 8350 on Air using the (Deep Cool Twin Tower Cooler) I had it on 4.6ghz and temps were under 56c... with voltages at 1.45v
I had 3 fans in push pull...

This was installed in a Cooler Master HAF XB case..

I was using a Phenom-II 980 Black and changed to a FX-4170. I saw an improvement too. I'm now saving for the 8-Core FX-8350 because I know it will be better still.

    Never settle,...........
