Default FX-8350 with Corsair H110 and Asus Crosshair Formula V

First off let me say thank you in advance for your help. I am a new member here and I am excited to OC my new setup.

    I have a AMD FX-8350 on a Asus Crosshair Formula V motherboard.
For cooling I have a H110 setup as a push pull.
For ram I have 4 Gskill ripjaws sticks of 16 gig 2133mhz ram.
Graphics card an nvidia titan evga.

I have disabled all the power saving options (as far as I can tell)

I wanted to OC my cpu at 5ghz but as of right now it won't even do 4.5ghz.

I hope you understand that Titan is best used with monitors with Resolutions starting at 2560 x 1400, and up, if your running anything smaller it's a waist of money. I run a 30" with 2560 x 1600 Res and was going to buy two Titans, but after reading a bunch of reviews, I decided to buy two EVGA GTX 690s, which perform better than the Titan. Let me talk to my AMD reviewer Kenny, and have him help you with overclocking. It is possible to hit 5Ghz with the 8350, but you have to use a 1.5 v-core to do so.
    2nd system

    MSI Z87 Gaming, 4770K Two MSI GTX780s, 16GBs 2133MHz, Corsair 900D, Seasonic X1250W, 360 Rad, Koolance 380i CPU block

    3rd system

    Intel X79 motherboard, 3930K, Boreas, VisionTek 480GB, WD 750GB, 32GBs 1866MHz, Two EVGA GTX770s, OCZ 1250W, 360 Rad, Swiftech CPU Block

I use 3 Dell IPS screens x1200 each running as surround hence the Titan. I plan to buy a second one at some point but for now I am waiting for some medical bills to be paid first.

Thank you for all your help I really appreciate it!

    Hi Oni222,

First, welcome to PureOC like others have said..
As you mentioned you disabled all of the power saving features along with the Speed Spectrum.

What are you using for Vcore?? Do you have in it in auto or manual?
What is the CPU N/B Voltage??

To give you a example, (my 8350 on Crosshair V formula Z) for 4.6ghz, I had to run my Vcore at 1.45volts with CPU N/B Manually set at 1.35volts to be able to run Prime and Linx Stable. You will also need to adjust Load Line Calibration from auto to High.

If you can take screen shots of your bios and post them here we can help point out what needs to be changed and we can also help with pointing out what should and should not be disabled.

Since you are using the H110, you should be able to get decent results.
What I would do in your case is: Up the Vcore manually to 1.42volts, and CPU N/B to 1.30volts and start my upping the multiplier.
You can start off at 21 which is 4.2ghz and run Linx or IBT to stress test to see if it passes. If it does, go back to the bios and up the multiplier up and repeat the testing. Keep doing this until your system either locks up or BSOD or if stress test fails.. this will help find the limitation in your chip with vcore. Once you have this dialed in you and temps are safe and you want higher clocks you can then start adding to vcore more and if needed to CPU N/B.

One other important thing to pay attention to is temperature. You don't want your chip to exceed 62c, don't use CoreTemp seeing that its not accurate even under load.
I have been using AI suite to monitor temps as I find it to be more accurate. CoreTemp reads temps under by about 7-8 degress from Ai suite.
Due to its transistor architecture CoreTemp hasn't quite figured out programming, You can also use Hardware monitor, which seems to be more accurate and represented closer to the AI suite temps.

Hope that bit of into helps.
    Kenny

    Thank you Kenny.

I am currently at work but I should be home in 3h 30 mins so I will try it then.

I will also get you guys numerous screenshots of my bios setup this way we can also verify that I do not miss any power saving option.

    Thanks again!

I think you are starting off a little too high. I see that the FSB is at 210, try dropping that down to 200. When you have the FSB at 210, it also OC the RAM and if your RAM is hindering your OC that can be the cause.. let's get the CPU Stabilized before you do anything else.

Also, why do you have all the onboard devices disabled?? There is no need for that..

Drop your vcore down to 1.42volts and CPU n/b to 1.30volts first. Sometimes too much voltage can hurt OC and you have your quite high to start off with right now. You haven't determined your stability point to shoot that high right off the back.

using the above settings will get your started with a good baseline.

If I have some time I will reload my OC settings in my set-up and post my SS so you can see what I am talking about.

    Thanks Doctor!

So using the settings that where recommended my system was freezing at 4.2ghz and 4.1ghz. Although at 4ghz it worked but I was at 64C.

So I went back to the default settings without any OC settings and I am running prime95 at stock 4ghz for a while and my temp on cpu is at 51C.
