Does anyone have an explanation, or a link to explain this feature?- I have searched online and found a few resources, most of which are for other platforms other than the FM2 Socket processors.
In my bios I have tried enabling CPB and Turbo CPB.
If I am correct, this means that when the processor is idle or not being tasked very much the frequency is then boosted to the desired amount, but only on fewer cores.
How does this work then with AMD's cool n quiet etc?
However it seems that when CPB and CPB Turbo are switched on in my bios if I stretch my CPU with Prime small FFT's or LinX, the frequency is usually around the stock and jumps very occasionally to the turbo.
Is this because when tasking all cores, the CPB doesn't come in to play?
If indeed the boost only applies when the processor isn't using as many cores, doesn't this negate performance in games and applications, when instead you can disable the feature and have an overclock on all cores instead?
