I am at 3.6 on my q6600 and it seems to be doing well so far. I did manually set the voltage on the NB as auto mode set it to 1.62V. I lowered it to 1.55..just plugged in something as I really have no idea exactly where I need to be there but the lower the better.
if you haven't run Prime95 test then your OC is not classify stable, you must run it at least 8hrs straight. No error reported than you can consider it stable.

1.62v - 1.55v NB is still too high. I bet your NB temp will jump over 50c mark when you do Prime95. The goal is to keep NB temp below 50c at load.
Please read page 2, post #29, this will give you some idea of NB voltage.

your ram can handle overclock up to 1200mhz or more. You just haven't got the setting right yet.

I actually installed the accessory fan with my aircooled processor but reversed how I installed it so that the flow of air pointed out the back on the case. I did notice my motherboard temps went down 3 C degrees and the northbridge went down 5 C degrees, nothing else changed so I guess it didn't hurt anything by adding it. These were all idle temps, ambient temps are around 70 F.

I installed Everest Home Ed. but only saw CPU temps, didn't see any of the others but I'll check again later.

Question what should my BIOS say when I'm looking at the RAM timing when its all set to auto? My ram says its 4-4-4-12 but in the BIOS it says 5-5-5 something, do I need to change it manually or something. Its Patriot Extreme DDR2 800mnz 4-4-4-12.

On a side note I just ordered my cover for the side of my case, I think its going to look really good, will post the pic when it arrives and is installed, about a week away.

So far I have left the new build stock no OC'ing and it has ran perfectly, my only issue is everytime I boot up it always detects a new PCI Device but I never can install it,what ever it is I have no idea. Just shows up in the Hardware DEvice manager with an exclamation icon on it. Nothing is attached to it other than the main components. Weird. I'll tell you one thing that included Kaspesky Anti-Virus is absolutely terrible, turned the system into a slug, immediately removed it and installed AVG, so much faster now.

Thumb up for you! The first original mod with a speaker cover as fan grill.

About the Ram, yes you can set it manually to 4-4-4-12 if you run it less than 900mhz but 5-5-5-15 for higher. That's for my case but I think your will be the same too.

I haven't use any AntiVirus software for so long, knock on wood. Yeah it's just slow down the system. I just don't down load any file that I don't know or trust. Vista verification also helps in this case too

You can use CoreTemp and ProbeII if Everest Home Edition didn't give you all the other sensors (trial version don't give you all the access).

Asus said don't install the accessory fan when you use air cooling because it will interference with the CPU HFS air flow, only for watercooling. Hey if it's work for you why not. For correct direct air flow; the Asus label facing the CPU see my pic here.

Thumbs up HD 3870 X2 CrossfireX Preview

I notice some Maximus members own HD3870 X2 and I though I'm sharing this article. I know this will help you to decide to do CrossfireX or not when the time is approriate. I know I will. When the price drop for the X2 and better Xfire drive support and wait for the release of Nvidia X2 as well.

I'm not sure about this as I've never used Everest Home, but I think you may need Everest Ultimate or Corporate to see everything. I'm using Ultimate. It costs like $35 (my friend gave it to me). Other than that you can just try double-clicking one of the temps in the systray and it might bring up a window that detects all devices and allows you to add more to the systray (as it does for me in Ultimate). Good luck!

    Thank you.

Yeah I'm finding the Probe II software seems to be accurate and good for now. Yeah I reversed the fan so that the airflow didn't disrupt the airflow of the cooler flow, just turned it around. The direction they recommend had the flow heading towards the front the case, my way keeps the flow front to back.

Really awesome system, the graphics are very smooth and system is very stable, which was my initial goal for this system over performance. It's a gaming / CAD machine, and love it. I just couldn't wait any longer for the 45nm processor or to have enough money for the FireGL card.

    Default q6600 temps on air...overclocked

What type of temps should I look for while oc'ed?
    q6600 on air...
whats the max safe idle/loaded temps on air?
I am testing 3.6 currently and temps idle around 30-33 and I want to say 50 at 100%..I am @ work this moment and dont recall exactly.
Prime95 ran torture test for 6 hours before my box locked up so I will be submitting my settings for you all to review later...good news is my NB stays well below 50 at full load.
    Thanks again to all...

the ideal temp for the CPU is under 65c and 50c for NB @ 100% load.

Well, after some time and consideration (Waiting for my 3870x2 to RMA and then discovering that it is a discontinued item and reordering a different one). I've decided to return that case and purchase an Antec "Nine Hundred". I guess it's the cheapest case with a good amount of cooling and is worth the money even with a few lame design flaws. So, hopefully that stuff will arrive Saturday or Monday and I'll post some more pictures and specs.

So, hopefully that stuff will arrive Saturday or Monday and I'll post some more pictures and specs.

I really gotta reccommend the P182 over the 900, Its worth the extra money. The airflow and behind motherboard cable routing are amazing. No fancy windows though, I dont like them anyways but some do.

yeah, I like my P180 too, whisperly quite case. Just to make sure it fits with a long grfx card.
900 and P182 are good for aircooling but they are a little awkward for watercooling setup, due to regular mid size cases.

Well, remember all that weird stuff I was running into with screen losing connection and garbled screen randomly on boot or loading into different games? Well, I looked into it and found a good way to test this problem using a benchmarking mod for Crysis. So I benchmarked the card with all sort of different resolutions and settings it should have been able to handle and more often then not it froze up. So I busted out a Radeon X300 (POS old card you'd find in an e-mail machine at university) and ran similar benchmarks without any freezing.

So the card was sent back to newegg who decided to fully refund me since they discontinued the card. So I've since purchased the Sapphire 3870x2 which has a 5 egg rating out of nearly 70 people. Hopefully this card will be fine. The fact that the MSI OC one was discontinued is a bad sign in my uninformed opinion.

Hehe... I already ordered the 900, but for the sake of sake I'll just agree that the P182 is also nice and I also don't particularly like fancy windows (or fancy LEDs for that matter). But I do like the layout a little better in the 900 because I have extra fans I'd like to mount already (side vent). I just wish it had a mobo tray and I usually only buy Lian-Li so the quality and sexiness seem to be downgraded. I also do plan on disabling the LEDs.

Is the P182 wide enough to stuff the Thermalright 120 Ultra EXtreme into it and still close?

yup barely. door closes no problem though. I also checked last night to make sure it will fit a second (dual slot) PCIE card in the bottom slot, and if you take out the plastic divider thing it does, also barely.
