Thumbs up New Member need help to overclock his system

Hello everyone! I have heard very cool stuff about this forum and the kindly people here, who help little noobies like me to overclock theire PC.
I know little about overclock and need help from you masters to understand what are the optimal values for overclock that i can use on my CPU without damaging or shorten my cpu and mainboard life. I've searched a lot in google about my cpu or motherboard overclock capabilities and i found some stuff but every pc have different components, so i think the best way to find the right numbers is to write down my full PC specifications and let the proffesionals do theire job I have heard that my motherboard is not bad for overclock becouse of his digi power design, advanced V8 + 2 Power phase design and cpu support up to 140W and i think my is 95W.

Also do you think its safe to try and unlock 4th core and overclock cpu or just overclock without unlocking... im fine with both ways, becouse as i said i don't want to squeeze it too much ( afraid of damaging ). I just can share with you that i clicked the option in bios to unlock 4th core but my windows dont want to boot. I know it may require a bit voltage up but i have no idea how much so i didnt touch anything at all and turned back the option.

I want to tank everyone here who can give me a hand, im looking for this from too long...

I know as far as OCing, you may want/need to get an after market cooler for your CPU, the stock cooler, won't give you much wiggle room with Temps and upping of voltage

Welcome to PureOC! We will be happy to help where we can. As Carnyakam stated, if you are running a stock CPU cooler you will not get a good OC. One the the main things you have to focus on it the temps. Higher temps = Instability. Aftermarket cooling is a must.

As for the core unlock feature there is a guide on which batches of X3 CPUs can be unlocked. Read here to see if you can and how to Unlock the 4th core. Unlocking Athlon II / Phenom II cores and L3 cache

Overclocking AMD CPUs is pretty easy to do. Move the multiplier up a little at a time until it becomes unstable or the core temp is too high under load. Once it is unstable move core voltage up a little at a time until you get it stable under Prime95 for at least an hour. You will be moving the Core voltage up mv at a time. .025mv increments on some boards. Make sure you are paying attention to the decimal placement when moving voltages. .25 is not the same as .025.

Ill be back in the morning to check back. Its bed time.

    Welcome to PureOC

Pull up a chair and read the guides to help get a better understanding of what your trying to accomplish

Don't be afraid to ask questions we all started as newbies at some time in our life so if your
not understanding what your reading just say so their is no such thing as a stupid question.

We will give you all the direction you will need and teach you along the way the hardest part
will be leaning the terms and getting to know what they mean, as well as how to apply the settings in the Bios.

And if you get confused just ask again and before long you will be on your way and showing some other newbie how its done.
Its going to be fun for everyone

Thanks for the warm welcome people, i can see you got lovely comunity
I'll try to unlock my 4th core 1st. I saw Cyberburnout guide and was realy good. I unlocked my 4th core from bios but my windows does not start. I know i have to increase the core and NorthBridge voltage a little bit to make it work like it is said in the guide, but the problem is that i don't know at what voltage to stop before i blow up something
My core voltage by default no OC is 1.408V
    core speed 3.1ghz
    multiplier x15.5
    bus speed 200mhz
    HT LINK 2000mhz

Ok cool. So now that the 4th core is unlocked its tweaking time! Move the Core voltage up in very small increments until it boots and i stable. For that cpu I believe the max voltage is 1.5v. It doesn't look like you have much you to play with but you do. Remember we are talking small increments. So go into your bios and start moving it up by what ever the smallest increment your board allows. Move up, save, restart, Check if it boots. Move up, save, restart check if it boots. Once you find a voltage that allows it to boot write that number down just in case you have to clear bios during overclocking the cpu. if by some odd chance you reach 1.5v and it still doesnt boot try dropping voltage all the way back down plus one move up. Move Northbridge volatge up a tiny bit and try again.

Give this a shot and report back.

It's very simple once you unlocked 4th processor:
    1. Rise your FSB to 240 (the only way to OC Athlon II X3 445 because it has locked multi to 15.5),
    2. Rise your CPU voltage to 1.50V
    3. Lover your HT multi to x8
You have now your processor at 3.72 GHZ.
Save BIOS, reboot, once in a windows check with Prime95 or OCCT, watch your temps (keep it below 75C on full 100% stress load).

    Always look beyond the limits...

You are correct! i forgot the X3 445 is locked. Duh! So used to unlocked CPUs I forgot that some actually still come locked.

Save BIOS, reboot, once in a windows check with Prime95 or OCCT, watch your temps (keep it below 75C on full 100% stress load).
Now, if you have a stabel OC (~ 2hrs of Prime 95 or OCCT), you can go a little bit higher:
set your FSB to 256, rise your VCore to 1.55, and voila you have 3.97GHz (~ 4GHZ), OC. Run in windows Prime 95 for 8-10 hrs (if no BSOD or any error), and your temps are below 75C, you have golden OC. Don't expect the miracle, if you managed to stay stable on 4.0GHz the total gain (in various benchmarks), will be approximately 10-12% vs stock settings. If your temps with stock cooler are pretty near to 75C or slightly over you can go for CM Hyper 212 EVO (excellent little CPU cooler). Don't go over 1.55V.

Yes about the overclocking i saw in google this picture. This guy have 1.584 on V core i was thinking 1.500 was the safe zone ?

But lets go back little bit...ok i did what Cyberburnout said.
I unlocked my 4th core from bios. My cpu name changed to Phenom x4 b45 but windows cant boot. Then i went back in bios.
    Cpu voltage by default is 1.4V ( 1.408V )
CPU NB Voltage by default is 1.1750V

I went up on cpu voltage increment to 1.500. Windows still cant boot.
Then i reseted the cpu voltage and uped it 1 time to 1.415V and uped Cpu NB voltage 1 time to 1.1875V still cant boot windows
More ideas to boot windows with unlocked core?

Probably you have faulty 4th core if can't boot to Windows. Lock it again (BIOS), and proceed with the described OC (is the same rule for 4 or 3 processors). Don't worry, lot of x3 445 has faulty 4th processor. VCore, NB voltage increment nothing to do with it.
PS. 1.584V is acceptable if the temps not go over 75C (100% load Temps). Just remember: there is no two 100% identical CPU, (the OC which workon one, doesn't mean will wotk on another CPU iqual, some will not work at all, some will need less V, some will need more...).
