That is because you have not followed the guide.

Doing so fixes the capability of each part of the system in turn. just now it could be anything

we prove things one step at a time in order not to be where you are just now.

ok so after a very fustrating hour trying to do that iv reset my cmos this morning and started a fresh, iv done grumps settings to the best i can get it too iv even printed out the post haha,
    right now im at -

    core - 4249.81
    multi - 25
    bus - 169.99 ( set to 170 in bios )
    qpi - 3059.87

done a test with ibt and linx and its passed both so far........

edit: also when doing a test with IBT and using cpuidhw am i looking at "temperatures - cpu" OR "intel core i7-temperatures-cores" as the temperature while doing an ibt test is saying 70c but the temperatures showing core 0-2 are showing between 75-85 ?

    sorry for the continuous posts

Not to put too fine a point on this You NEED this info if you are going to overclock without putting unnecessary strain on your rig.

You NEED to know how fast your ram will run and at what voltage and or timings in order to know that if the overclock fails that is unlikely to be the cause

Then when you finally get to overclocking the cpu it should just be a case of speed vs voltage vs temperature of the cores

..... or you take a stab in the dark approach where not only you but anyone trying to help can only guess what the next move is

If you do it right and learn stuff as you go you could be set by the weekend..... Wanna give it a try?? If so get a pen and paper ready and if you are sitting comfortably we will begin

grumpy these are my current volt settings mate, hope this helps, and yes im willing to learn but looks like im going to have to leave it at a mid 4.2ghz as anything above 4.25 is just crashing unless its a setting im not adjusting

since had to drop the blck back down to 168 as previous bsod while running ibt, running LinX now and all seems ok

I wonder why you have just 3 cores showing ??

Now put some load on it (IBT) and report what cpu-z shows as a voltage

back to bios and manually set cpu volts to 1.2375 or nearest choice. also, we need to set load line calibration to 1 level below the highest choice

what voltage do you get in cpu-z?

    Now we start

In Bios turn off EIST, C1E, and all other C-states. Set the CPU clock ratio to x15, set the memory multi to 6, set the uncore clock ratio to x20, set the QPI/VTT voltage to 1.2V.

Now set the bclk to 150 and re boot.

Just so that I know... are you posting on the same machine or another? if it is the same machine and you get into trouble where the rig will not post Just clear cmos and load optimised defaults again.
