    Deton,

For the memory it looks as tho all I will need to do in bios is set DRAM Timing Control to manual and configure with 5-5-15 to set to 1068 correct? Or go further with your setting to go to 1116 Mhz??

I'm figuring at default (auto) it will be ddr2-800??

well it's all depend on your memory how far it can overclocks. You should set the timing according to the memory specs. If you really push it then you have to increase its voltage and loosen its timing.

So if you have the FSB of 445 (as in table samples) then your memory run at 445*2 = 890mhz, the memory run the same speed as FSB (1:1 ratio), you should read this post about FSB Strap to NB http://forums.pureoverclock.com/showpost.php?p=11084&postcount=23
and this post for its definition http://forums.pureoverclock.com/showpost.php?p=11119&postcount=25

If you RAM is 1066Mhz and you want to run it to the max then you need to select 2:1 or 3:1 divider, whatever your RAM can handle, this divider is available in each strap options. This is mean you just set your RAM run 2x faster than the CPU.

    Default Recommended Memory

Hello everyone! New here as I just ordered this board last night. Already learning a few pointers thanks to all of you. I have a question about my memory sticks, they are Mushkin Redline 8000"s and I just noticed they are not on the Asus QVL. I am planning on running these at a 1:1 ratio. Because they are not on the list can anyone forsee any compatability problems, I know some boards are very finicky about ram.

    Welcome to PUREOC MIIF Club,
Wow this holidays season a lot of people purchasing this board huh. You're not the first member here had have bought this board.

If you will be here in this forums for sometimes please fill out your system specs, so we don't have to ask you what type of hardware you have when we try to answer your problem question in the future.

About the Mushkin ram, this is a good memory but it doesn't mean it won't compatible with MIIF. Yes Maximus are one of the board that is picky about memory, the only way to try it out first to see if it's give you any problem or not.

The last resources is return them to exchange for the one that listed on the compatible listing. As I said Mushkin is a good memory and if you don't run it out of wack its specs then I don't think you should have any problem.

    Hi Deton,

    here are the temps:

    Ambient: 27C
    Core#1: 40 C / 60 C
    Core#2: 39 C / 55 C
    Core#3: 45 C / 59 C
    Core#4: 45 C / 59 C
    NB: 45 C / 52 C
    SB: 45 C / 50 C
    MB: 37 C / 39 C

I also changed my GFX from Palit to HIS...

i noticed that the HIS has higher temps than the Palit but the internal casing temp is lower compared to the Palit...

Wow, that's very good temps considering 27c ambient and air cooler.
Where do you live and you have 27c ambient at the moment?

yeah i missed that setting that says show yes/no. i kicked up back up to 4.5 ghz all day and its been great. temps are good i think at 32c idle 55c load.

the cpu will be the next major upgrade i was having a hard time deciding on q6600 and the q9550
everything else after that cpu is gravy.

only reason i am holding off is i am hoping for a really good intel price drop since the core i7s have been out for awhile now.

q6600,q9550,q9650 it will be one of those

i love the q6600 price at newegg the q9550 is in my
budget right now but reading the reviews there its hard telling if i would get the e0 stepping- i think from what i read the q9650 is e0- also plan to get the zerotherm nirvana 120 cpu heatsink.---sucks getting paid once a month.

i love the q6600 price at newegg the q9550 is in my
budget right now but reading the reviews there its hard telling if i would get the e0 stepping- i think from what i read the q9650 is e0- also plan to get the zerotherm nirvana 120 cpu heatsink.---sucks getting paid once a month.
I think the Q9550 is about $100 more than Q6600, if you do a lot multitasking, multimedia or use a lot of multithread programs then the Q9550 is your best choice. It's about 10-15% faster.

E0 core stepping is better than C1 or whatever the previous stepping, it requires less voltage which is mean you have cooler chip and you have full protential to overclock it to the max.

Intel won't have major price drop until they release i7 for mainstream, suck as 1136 socket (hopefully that the correct number). The rumor saying sometime in 2009. Intel already stops producing some 45nm Dual & Quad CPU. As you know they stop making Q6700 and they were on sale like hot cake, it was less than Q6600 few months ago. Eventutaly they will stop making Q6600 because this chip is hurting Q9350 and Q9450 sales.

It's best to save your money now and start window shopping, studying the price and check eBay you might find you good deals on there or from the local retailers.
