    Question Gigabyte DQ6 + Conroe E660 help

Hey all, i'm kinda new to all this o/c business and was wondering if someone can gimmie some help n guidance.
basically i wanna o/c my conroe but keep within safe thermal boundarys.my equiptment is as follows
Intel core 2 duo E6600 @ 2.4Ghz cooled by stock intel cooler
    BFG Nvidia Geforce 7950gx2 1Gb @ 550/1400 Stock cooler
    2 x 1024 Corsair 8500c5 @ 800mhz
    Gigabyte GA965P DQ6 (F6 Bios)
    X-Fi Gamer sound card
Jeantech Phong II case with 1 x 140mm Jeantech fan bringing air in,
    1 x 80mm (side) and 1 x 120mm (rear) taking air out
    720watt Antec PSU

i havent a clue how to o/c the memory but i did run the processor at 350 x 9 for 5 mins befor the temp hit 61c and i shut it down.
Can anyone give me settings for this mobo to safely oc all these parts but keep em safe.

Well, to start, you should upgrade to the latest BIOS, not sure for your board, but it might be up to F7. Since I have not done any OC'ing myself, a pretty good guide I came across was here: http://forumz.************.com/hardw...ict197995.html. (Replace the stars with tomshardware)
For temps, I'd say shutting down your rig @ 61c was a good idea. Idle temps from what I've read should be around 39C, stock speeds. Do some googling to search for specific guidelines for your CPU and other hardware. Hope this helps.

Lol, must be human nature, just to see how fast you can make something go.......i've read some good things about the tuniq tower.. think one artical they used it to run stable at 4Ghz!!!!
    check it out http://anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/sho...px?i=2795&p=18
i mean i ran o/c'd for a few mins @ 3.15 Ghz and it rean like greased weasle poo (so fast!!!) the only thing that stopped me were the thermal limitations. .
Anyone know the thermal limits on the conroes?

what do you mean by thermal limits? i mean there are technical limits which will be something like +70c but as for the rest, you can go down to -150 probably, the cooler the better.

not sure about the absolute limit, but when it comes to overclocking most don't like to go above 50-55c, anything higher than that on a big overclock certainly gets me nervous

just had a massive scare with my POS DFI board, it almost died but somehow its come back to life, i'm buying a new board tomorrow, i've had enough of this garbage .
