    Default Where Do I Start????

ummm well ya where di i start? i dont wana burn my comp and explode wile i play from overheating, plus my far and cooling system is a normal fan you would find in any old comp and well i dont even know where do get all the info on my comp, i know im a newbie when it comes to overclocking, well umm i have singlecore ( i fansy all of you dualcore owners) and its only 1.79ghz i know its not the best, and i dont know if it would just help to overclock my video card instead, so thats why im here, posting this thread, in this forum, in this website, on this domain, in this network we call internet.

My advise is READ a lot about overclocking, google it, get as much information you can, READ them until you are totally understand them before you attemp to overclock.

You also need to know the limit of your hardware, the capablity to handle overclock. So do a lot of research.

    Good Luck!

this is a vast, vast subject that coukld be covered in a single long post but in all honesty its asked so much i can't really keep writing the same sort of things over and over. some key info about overclocking is definitely here in some previous threads if you wish to have a look through, but i'll quickly go over some things to look for -

    1) grab some benchmarks to test the stabilty of your system overclocks like prime 95, super pi, 3D mark 2001 se.

    2) enter your bios and see what options you find for overclocking, you should find things such as FSB, CPU mutli, Mem divider. write then down, do a google search and find out how they work and what they do.

apart from that, looking at your rig you'll get hardly anything extra from overclocking the GPU, just leave it, but you might be able to overclock the CPU quite a bit once you work out how it's done.

GeForce 8800GTX is one of the fastest card available that supports DirectX 10, can't wait to see what ATI comes up with some thing new to compete against Nvidia.
