Beginners Guide to Alt Coin Mining by MybadOmen

    MybadOmen Presents:

How to GPU Mine Alt Coins (For Beginners)

    1) Look at the exchanges and decide what coin you want to mine.

    2) Download a coin Wallet you want to mine and install and keep it running.(Many are just extract and drop in C: drive)

    3) Search for a pool for the coin you decided on and register.

    4) Download latest cgminer version from here --> Index of /apps/cgminer/3.7 (no higher than 3.7.2 as higher versions do not support GPU mining) .

    5) Extract it to C: directory (no sub folders)

    6) Back to Pool Register your worker!! To go my account --> My workers --> Register new worker! (use 1,2,3,etc for worker names.)

    7) Now you need to create a bat file to run your miner. All this is a notepad file saves as .bat at the end.

First goto your windows Start button and choose run and open it.

Run these commands 1 at a time using run.

    setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
    setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

Now here is a line you can use to create your bat files.

    START C:\cgminer\cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://wdc.theblocksfactory.com:3334 -u john.1 -p password --thread-concurrency 8192 -I 13 -w 256 -g 2

Let me break this down for you:

START C:\cgminer\cgminer.exe --scrypt (This part always stays the same)

-o Pooladdressort = Pool Address and Port after the :

-u poolusername.worker p password = Username and Password with . Between the two.

And at the end is where you need the right info for your card by searching Google for Script Settings whatever card you have.(Once you know your settings its always the same for any bat file.

    --thread-concurrency 7168 -I 16 -w 256 -g 1 (This is for a 6970)
    --thread-concurrency 8192 -I 13 -w 256 -g 2 (This is for a 7970)
    --thread-concurrency 32765 -I 20 -w 256 -g 1 (This is for a R9 290)

    8) So once you know all your settings making a bat file takes 2 seconds and gets very simple to do. You want to end up with a line similar to this and save as, all files StartCGMinerWDC.bat the WDC just standing For WorldCoin change to whatever you are mining. You can make 100's of bats as long as your registered on each pool and have a wallet for each coin.

Here is what you should have when done with your info of course:

    START C:\cgminer\cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://wdc.theblocksfactory.com:3334 -u john.1 -p password --thread-concurrency 8192 -I 13 -w 256 -g 2

    9) Now simply Drop the batch file in the cgminer folder you dropped in C: Navigate to the folder with cgminer and the .bat file
, Create a shortcut and place on your desktop, double click the shortcut. (You are now Mining!)

    10) After your miner is running you have to mess with your card to get the max Khps out of them. To do this try i high memory and lower clock speed and tweak from there watching the miner as you tweak it.

Also you may be able to find some settings to get you in the right area on Google but just because one card runs high KHS dont mean yours will, just be patient and tweak it, Make sure your fans are turned up as you will be mining = (Working your cards for money)

    Main Exchange for trading:
    https://btc-e.com/

Also need these exchanges for trading your alt coins:

    https://www.cryptsy.com/

    https://coinedup.com/

    https://coinex.pw/

    https://mcxnow.com/features.html (When re-opens Version 3)

And 1 way to cash out BTC to PayPal: https://www.virwox.com/index.php?drgn=1 To do this you must convert BTC to SLL first and then SLL to USD , then withdraw the USD using your PayPal. (Risky method as SLL could be worth less then you thought it was!) You are now mining Alt Coins!! ENJOY !!

Lastly Id like to add a few more things to help you get started and pointed in the right direction:

Here is a helpful tool to help you decide what coin to mine but its not always accurate so use it only as a tool to help decide: Where to Mine - Cryptocoin hashrate earnings information

Next is the forum section to see all the brand new Alt coins being released: https://cryptocointalk.com/forum/40-new-cryptocoins/

Also highly recommend joining the Facebook Group Coiners Anonymous and yes you can find me there as well. https://www.facebook.com/groups/coinersanonymous/

PureOC has a very nice section on Bitcoin ans Alt coin Mining also : Digital Currency Forums

So real quick run through of what you just learned showing how simple it is:
    1. Choose a coin to mine.
    2. Download cgminer 3.7.0 3.7.2 and drop in Directory of C:
    3. Download a Wallet for coin you choose and drop in C: drive or some Install. Run it.
    4. Join a Pool for the coin you chose & create miners & put in your receive wallet address
    5. Make a .bat file/ drop in cgminer folder and create a shortcut using pool info.
    6. Start the bat file you made and adjust your GPUs for max Khs watch the heat !
    7. Make Money!! And even better have fun!!

Each new coin needs a "wallet", "pool" and ".bat file" and your good to go.

    Brought to you by,

Ah, that would make a bit more sense. Would I be better off using my 8 core 8350 then?

CPU mining isn't really worthwhile since CPU cores from either Intel OR AMD are very poor with mining. GPU's work best for that sort of thing since they have so many threads of data that they can process at one time, and AMD's GCN architecture crunches the numbers in the coin registry better than any other GPU out there. Hence why the price of AMD GPU's skyrocketed not too long ago: miners bought the crap out of them just FOR mining.

EDIT: I also noticed that in the directions there is a tongue-face there instead of the text that should be there... what is it SUPPOSED to read like?

Go here and download the latest version of cudaminer. The thread should also help you get everything set up properly for your card.

You need CudaMiner if you want to mine with Nvidia and i hear they had some great improvements. It looks to be a Guide just to be a begginers guide to making Profit right away and nvidia is a bit tricky but yes its now possible with CudaMiner.

But for now AMD is def the way to go for mining.

Also not sure i added it but def do not try to go mine Bitcoin or Litecoin youll be wasting your time , Electricity and hashing power. Mine Alt coins that hold a good steady value. Doge coin has been great for that for a while but lately its been dropping. If it dont rise soon i will swap to another crap coin and ride that one out, The i cash the crap coin out for LTC , hold the LTC until the LTC to BTC ratio is higher and then i convert to BTC and hold waiting for that lucky day it makes us rich. We all can hope at least If not its still nice money anyway.

    Hope this Helps a little;

I mine litecoin and I have been doing rather well. Guess I got into a good Pool. I am also using more GPUs then most people have sitting around. Bitcoin is not even an option.

Alt coins can pay off if you do it right. It seems to me that most are being pumped and dumped. One day it can have value and the next it isnt worth jack crap. Have to mine and move fast to make money.

Hey i might actually go back to Litecoin and give it another shot. Im running roughly 9000 khs or so and was making 1.5 ltc per day at the time so i switched to doge which started as 5 ltc per day and was pretty steady at LTC per day but this last week it dropped down to roughlt 1.5 as doge plummeted as well as many other alts. So for now who knows maybe ill just jump on ltc seeing it finally broke free from BTC with BTC dropping and LTC rising. Its been a very very long time since that ever happened.

But back to what i meant by dont mine LTC or BTC. What i actually should have wrote is find a stable alt coin that pays more per 24 hours then you make mining LTC directly and stick to that as 3ltc per day is better then 1.5ltc etc.

Take Care guys and glad you like the guide its been changed many times.

With everything all over the place LTC is pretty safe at the moment. The value of the alt coins I had took a big dump too. I dumped some of them for BTC right as it start falling. I'm hoping some of them recover or the alt coins are history.

With 9000khs you should be close to least 3 ltc\day at current difficulty. Man I wish I had as much as you do 2500khs on a good day. Lol will be closer to 3000 by end of the week.

Let me know what you venture into if its not ltc
